I am making a move from an apartment to a house.  I was able to get most of the items moved by myself.  I knew that I would need to hire professional movers to get the larger items across town.  I spotted Always Ready Movers on Groupon.  So I purchased the $100 for $55 Groupon.  I made an appointment with Always Ready Movers.  When they were late, I called them up.  I was told that I would be given a call back in 5 to 10 minutes later.  After about 12 minutes, I had to call them up.  I was told that some problems had come up and that no one was coming.  I let them know (in less than polite language) that this was unacceptable.  I was then told to hire someone else and was promptly hung up on.  The good news is that Groupon will be refunding me for the Groupon that I purchased.  As a result of Always Ready Movers' action, my move-in schedule had to be pushed back and the move is going to cost me more money than originally planned.  Unless you want an unapologetic no-show, I would not recommend the ironically named Always Ready Movers.

Sub-par Customer Service

None of this stand-by stuff was ever explained to me.  I was told that I had an appointment.  The fact is that you missed that appointment.  All I am hearing is excuse after excuse.

And on the subject of Groupons and level of service, according to your logic if I used a Groupon at a resturant then I should expect my food to be spat on.

The problem was that you went with a groupon deal instead of DIRECTLY dealing with them. They would have quoted you the $100 for the move. NOT the $55 price you got. See your $55 price put you in a "STANDBY" position with them. Kinda like a airline in a way. You pay a cheaper rate but you have to hope and wait to see if someone cancels. If they do you are immediatly up. If they dont you have to wait. You chose to get the service at a cheaper rate. You CANNOT expect them to give you the same service that the other customers who have paid regular price get. I understand moving is expensive but you chose to go with the cheap price. In this instance you got what you paid for. This is one of the biggest problems with online purchases. There are always loopholes that screw the consumer.
