About 2 weeks ago I dropped off a computer to get it fixed. They told me it needed a new mother board for about $180. I gave them the OK and when I went to pick it up I noticed there was a cover missing from the back of the PC. It was the IO cover plate that is normaly attached to PC cabinet. They said that the new mother board did not come with one (thats a lie). I asked for the driver disc for the new mother board and they said it did not come with one (thats another lie).

Since I have used these guys for about 10 years and have built about 30 computers in the past from components purchased at Frys Electronics and other stores I knew they were lying to me. ALL new mother boards come with a disc for utility drivers and an IO cover plate. Since this was a terminal for our office they could not log onto our network until we plugged it into our network at our office and we needed it back and running, so I paid them and took it with me.

Unfortunatley at our office we determined that there is no longer a mother board made for this machine so the mother board they installed had to be either used OR rebuilt. This would explain why there was no driver disc and no IO cover plate. To make matters worse we could not locate Windows 7 drivers for the board they installed (its too old for Windows 7 drivers to be available) so we could not activate the LAN terminal of the mother board THEY installed.

Today we purchased a new mother board, new processor, new ram, new power supply, new PC cabinet and built a new machine ourselves. Amazingly enough the new mother board came with a driver disc and an IO cover plate LIKE THEY ALL DO. This place has turned into a RIP OFF JOINT. I will never go back and will file a complaint with the credit card company.

Not Quite The Truth

AUTHOR: Ripped Off - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 08, 2012

We are a medium sized On Line business that owns and operates 18 different websites. Our computers are a life over here. This was about a 5 year old terminal for one of our CSRs. They did correctly diagnose it ias having a bad mother board.

The problem is that at NO time did they tell me a new replacement mother board was not available for that particular processor and they were going to install a used board. If they would have, I would have said never mind we will just build a new machine.

Why would I buy a used part when our terminals are so important to our operation? When a PC goes down it is the top priority to get it up and running so we do not cut corners on this item. The day I went back to pick it up and asked about the hole in the back (missing IO trim plate) they told me "They dont come with them." When I asked for the driver disc for the new mother board they told me "They dont come with them, you need to download those from the internet.". Both of those statements are lies and I spoke with 2 of their employess about it while I was there picking it up. Both employess neglected to tell me it was a used board.

At no time did they say, "Its a used mother board they don't come with drivers or an IO trim plate". We did not find out the mother board they installed was used until we tried downloading the drivers from the internet using a different PC since the one they repaired would not operate properly without the Windows 7 drivers. That was when we determined there are no longer new mother boards available for that particular processor. Then we took the cover off of the PC and found a used mother board in it. The invoice they gave us only says Replace Motherboard. No mention of it being used.

I examined the mother board closely today and found that one of the capacitors on the used mother board they installed is bulging. That is the beginning of a future failure on this used mother board they installed. So on top of the fact that they installed a used board without telling me about it the board they installed is on the way to failure. Tomorrow I am mailing it back to them for a full refund.

Arizona Computer Outlets will refund 100% for motherboard

AUTHOR: Arizona Computer Outlets - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 08, 2012

Mr. Guliano brought his computer in and it had a bad motherboard. As Mr. Guliano stated, his computer was quite old and new motherboards were not available. We found a used motherboard and got his approval to install the used motherboard. At no time did we represent the used motherboard as new.

Unfortunately, the used motherboard we purchased did not arrive with an I/O shield. When Mr Guliano arrived to pick up his computer, we discussed getting the proper I/O shield for him. We were in the process of locating and ordering the proper I/O shield when I was made aware of this report. My manager contacted Mr. Guliano and he said that he didn't want the I/O shield and was unhappy that we put a used motherboard in his computer.

At Arizona Computer Outlets, we stand behind our products and service. If Mr Guliano is unhappy with the service he received, I will be glad to refund him 100% of the fees we charged him. All he has to do is return the motherboard to us.
