When I bought Montelongo's book from his website, it was supposed to be shipped on March 25th. I received it May 1st, and wasted a lot of time in the meantime trying in vain to confirm my order and track it.

The only responses I got were brush-off, vague emails from a dead-end deadbeat called Merlin. Turns out Merlin had no idea where my book was, what my address was, when I ordered it, how or when it had been shipped.

After two weeks of sending emails to him, Merlin sent me someone else's tracking number - in a different state.

Montelongo makes a big deal about what a successful guy he is. He claims that he's there for the little people, and that he's dedicated his life to helping them.

This shows how little he cares. He won't even spend the money for someone to answer the phone if there's a problem.

The book apparently was mailed by a service, and there is actually a receipt in the box, with a physical address and customer service phone number on it.

Why oh why didn't Merlin the jerk bother to give me that phone number? He couldn't be bothered. Instead, he gave me the run around for 2 weeks.

Also, why did Montelongo sit on my money for so long? The book was supposed to ship on March 25, but I received it May 1.

Here's the background:

I ordered Armando Montelongo's book, Flip and Grow Rich, through his web site, www.armandomontelongo.com on March 13, 2008. I did not get a receipt. Just an email that said "Thank you for your payment".

This was a "pre-sale" to buy the book before it is offered in a TV infomercial.
The book was supposed to be released March 25. On April 15, I received an email that said that my book had been shipped.

On the website, when I registered as a member, there was no place to put a shipping address. They only asked for a billing address, but my billing address is a PO Box.

I tried to contact the company to find out if they could mail to a PO Box or did they need a shipping address? There was no phone number on the website and the only email address I could find was for "General Enquiry".

I sent a note to that email address and got this reply:

We have received your request and have
issued the following tracking code: JNV-32962-403
The subject on file is: YOUR GENERAL ENQUIRY 4/15/2008

We are working diligently to get a reply
off to you so please, be patient and someone
will get in touch shortly.

From there I spent two weeks sending emails every couple of days and got nowhere. There is no customer service at all, just a tech support guy named Merlin, who is clueless.

I sent this note on 4/18
Still no book and no response from you. How diligently are you working on this???

How hard is it to find a tracking number?

Here's the response on 4/20:
Hi, The books are already shipped. You will get it shortly.

Please dont hesitate to get back to us if you need further assistance.

That was actually not true. When I finally received thebook, it had been mailed on 4/24.

After several more exchanges, Merlin finally sent me a tracking number on 4/30. It was someone else's tracking number. He didn't even bother to look at it and see that I'm in Texas and the tracking number was for a shipment to California.

When I complained, this is the response I got on May 1st (which turned out to be the day the book showed up in my mail box):

Hi,
Please login to the site, go to my account, click edit billing information, and update the address there. Please let me know when it is done.


Please dont hesitate to get back to us if you need further assistance.

Merlin

Merlin, the so-called tech support and customer service guy never had any idea where the book was. On the day it arrived, he was still clueless.

Apparently he had not read my messages, either, because I had been including both my shipping and mailing addresses in my messages and had been pleading for a customer service phone number that I could call.

I am very frustrated with this extremely unprofessional conduct. I have other things to do besides waste my time with Merlin, who was only giving me the run-around this entire time.
