Ok so I receive an email from an address beginning with 'hr@', which is later changed after I ask for their company website. I am very computer literate, first thing I do to find this company's website is google the name of their business 'Ascension Marketing Group, Inc' because any legit company like the one being described to me will have a website. right? wrong. I didn't find anything at all, except other ads just like the one I replied to on craigslist.org, on sites like monster.com and careerbuilders.com.

I get a call the next day from one woman telling me her name is "Kanya" and she is very interested in pitching me a job position with them, throwing things at me like asking me what I wanted to make, would I prefer full-time or part-time. In the end, she asked me for an interview for the very next morning, which I thought strange, but I accepted. I then asked her to email me the address for where our interview would be taking plalce. She said yes, we said our goodbyes, and I promptly hung up the the phone and went to my computer and checked my email, sure enough there it is, address and specific directions to it.

I thought ok cool, then I googled everything I had from them in my search of their website, and found no website. I googled "Ascension Marketing Group" got nothing, then added "sacramento" onto the end of that, still nothing. (they later changed their email address, and gave me a link to a cheapo, insta-webpage deal, through "wix.com") and told me it was (teamamginc.com) what happened to their original email address??

But wait, about 7 links down there caught my eye " 'Ascension Marketing Group', I can't tell if this is a scam or not" a yahoo messenging board post, or something like that. Read that, and was very surprised to find a detailed writing of one man's interview with this same place I am scheduled to go to tomorrow, his experience was very phony as well.

I then used googlemaps to find this place via google maps, I use it frequently. When you type in the full specific address like I did, a link to the business's website pops up in a little box along with an overhead map view of the place and the surrounding area. Nothing popped up this time. I zoomed all the in on the map on google I was looking at and didn't see Ascension Marketing Group anywhere within 5 miles.

However I did find a "Frontline Marketing" which occupied the entire building of which owned my address that I was given via email. I later found a report on the internet just like the other I had read, about Frontline Marketing. I will write no further about this, but I will copy and paste our entire email conversation now, and change my name and email address that is in it. Since when does moving your physical business location require total company website overhaul and using a joke website that makes little kiddie websites for newbies who don't know how to make a proper one?

Oh Please!

A  "balls out red bull drinking go-getter" should be making way more then a paltry $600.00 a week! Thats $15/hourly, assuming we are talking about a 40 hour work week.  From what I have read about these dime a dozen door-to-door sales jobs, you work way more then 40 hours a week. So we probably talking about way less then a wage equal to $15 an hour.  With that in mind, a jobseeker might as well work at Wendys where at least they know exactly what they they will be earning every week.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

AMG Inc. not a fake business

AUTHOR: mdwood87 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, July 14, 2011

Ascension Marketing Group, Inc. is a marketing campaign business. The email provided in the original post describes the company in a distinguished and reputable way, while at the same time being very murky about what they "really" do.

Basically if you are hired, you will be a full time door-to-door salesman/woman for one of the companies AMG Inc. represents and campaigns for. i.e. AT&T. I sold AT&T U-Verse packages in Fair Oaks, Carmichael and Elk Grove.

It is 100% COMMISSION. It is absolutely an entry level job for anyone, it looks pretty good on a resume because it is very difficult to stick with a commission job and you will learn a vast array of sales skills.

They will ask you how much you want to make because ultimately you decide how much you will make... if you are a balls out red bull drinking go-getter you can make around $600 a week. Different packages you sell will earn you different amounts of commission, and there are bonuses (like if you can sell a package a day for three days straight you get $100)

The whole Manager-in-Training bit is pretty much this: You get to work around 8am and have 1 hour of super intense energetic sales training in a small room with white boards. AMG Inc. will train you to become a sales expert.

The whole business is SALES. So if you're not really looking to get into the world's most lucrative business trade then go work at Wendy's.

Kanya is probably the sweetest person in the world though. John Kim was my manager and he taught me many valuable Leadership lessons that I will build upon for the rest of my life. Honestly, nothing but praise from me for this team.
