I signed up with Premier Martial Arts in Austin, TX. The person signing me up told me I would be on a month to month basis, and didn't have to sign any contracts. Without realizing what I was signing, I apparently signed a one year contract to fork over $120 a month for something I just wanted to try out. At no time did I EVER want to sign any contract lasting any period of time.

When I contacted ASF International about this, I first told them I wanted them to stop automatically charging the credit card number I provided with my membership. They told me any such requests require 30 days of written notice. Why? It doesn't take 30 days to NOT bill someone. They told me that is what I agreed to in the contract. I never agreed to such terms, and regardless it shouldn't take that long to cancel it anyway other than to increase their own profits from people who no longer wish to use consume the the service the signed up for.

I asked to speak with a manager, but was put on hold for 15 minutes before I hung up. As soon as I hung up, a manager called me back and explained everything that the representative had already told me. She said she would be able to remove the automatic billing, but the rate of the services would increase, and an automatic payment would still be processed for the current month. There is absolutely no reason they cannot cancel an automatic credit card payment within a matter of seconds.

I read someone else's report on here about ASF International and would be willing to join them in a class action suit. Consumers deserve to have a voice over unfair and deceptive business practices.

If "Mike" had given his full name in this complaint I would be in a much better position to respond to this. However, I can say that the Premier Martial Arts contracts are very specific. Also, Mike really needed to read what he is signing. There is generally a three day cancellation period which gives the consumer time to read the agreement and make a decision as to whether or not they want to follow through. The 30-day notice Mike speaks of would be a time frame which is in his agreement and requires that amount of time to give notice to cancel. He could stop his automatic withdrawal with a written notice and that would be stopped immediately. The payment increase is also a term in his agreement regarding the manual form of billing as opposed to automatic payments. This is clearly a situation in which the consumer did not read the agreement he signed.
