I enrolled in Ashford and was told within 7 weeks of consecutive enrollment and successful completion of courses I would receive the first of my financial aid. Then 7 weeks later I would receive the rest of the half for the semester. This process would repeat during the second semester. I should have received the first of my financial aid, my first stipend check, in October. It is now the end of February and I have not received a penny. I have not been able to purchase all my books, I've had to research the library in internet just to get my work done and still managed to get A's. I asked Ashford in October since it was the fault of my financial aid advisor that my aid hadn't been received if they could please give me a book voucher. They refused and said that was an impossibility. I requested to speak with a supervisor or manager and have NEVER spoken with one. I have left Manager Wyntress Moore several messages and she has never responded. There is no one available to speak with at Ashford who has the ability to resolve this kind of problem. I was told student balances should not exceed 3,000.00 before financial aid is received, my balance reached well over $6,000.00 before receiving a small amount of attention. I have reported Ashford to the Better Business Bureau for their poor conduct.

I noticed that they were audited a short time ago and questions were raised about their enrollment practices and the dispersement of their financial aid. My mother enrolled a short time after I did, and she did not even have a GED. The enrollment advisor said they could get around that. How credible or valuable will a degree be from a school who doesn't even require you have your GED? I am finishing the school year and never returning. I urge you to continue looking for a school, especially if you will need financial aid to cover the cost of your books. Don't be fooled by the enrollment advisor stating the negative reports online are from students who only enrolled for money. I worked extremely hard to maintain my 3.85 GPA, and take my academic career very seriously. I plan to find an online school, with a better reputation in the business world, and much more qualified, professional employees. Imagine not only the stress of everyday life, but the stress of making good grades, and on top of that having to be in constant stressful contact with your school because your financial aid advisor does not answer or return your phone calls or e-mails. I have stayed in constant contact with ashford's processing center and that is the only way I have created any progression with my financial aid process. This school is in no way worth $9,500.00 a year, especially for the quality of customer service you recieve, well lack of. You will regret choosing this school, please continue to research online schools, you can find one much better.

rebuttal?

AUTHOR: the truth - (United States of America)

It is obvious that bristol is a pawn, more likely an employee of ashford university that is on here to "dispute" legitimate charges or complaints.  I seriously doubt that they ever attended ashford, but are just on this site to dispute charges to make themselves look good. It is afterall a complaint forum, if you have not had any issues then what are you doing here other than being a plant for ashford.

Ashford University a good school

AUTHOR: DLW - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, October 09, 2011

I have attended school at Ashford since 2007. I recieved my Bachelor's degree and am now working on my Master's degree. I have never had any problems with the school or financial aid. I have always recieved great service from my advisors.

I have maintained a 4.0 GPA since I began and all of my credits transfered from both Navarro College and the University of Oklahoma. I even attended the on-campus graudation ceremony for the online students where I met many of my professors and my advisors. I would recommend this school to anyone looking to go to school online.

I have always recieved my finacial aid on time. They mail the check in the 7 week increments as described in this original report. I recieve it exactly one week later. At any time I had technical problems, the issue was resolved in less than 24 hours. It is possible some people have had bad experiences; however, that is not indicitive of the practices of the university and according to those in my current class, whom I consulted with prior to this post, their experiences have been enjoyable.

No troubles here

I have been a student at Ashford University for just over a year. All of my credits from Vanderbilt University transferred in. I have not had any issues at all with my financial aid or any instructors or advisors. I have loved the classes and found them challenging and thought provoking. I have a 3.93 gpa that I have worked very hard for. I have never, ever heard of anyone being able to come in without at least a GED. I know someone who was enrolled, finished her first class, and was told she had to leave because she had a special ed certificate of attendance instead of a diploma. So I cant believe they would allow someone with NOTHING come in. As I stated, I have loved every minute of my time here at AU, and I know many others who feel the same. I wonder why you didnt ask for a new advisor if you had so many difficulties. You can do that, you know.

Better yet...

Rather than encourage others to seek a better online school, I'd like to recommend that you seek out a reputable college in your own town. Almost every school now has online programs that will help the working adult pursue their educational goals while meeting other responsibilities. I guarantee you won't experience the same kind of problems with financial aid, lack of communication, etc.
