Go to Ashford University on line if you want to deal with arrogate, control freak instructors who are clueless of what teaching is all about. Don't be fooled the work load is immense and if your complain, your in trouble. I would not recommend this institution to my worst enemy. They want your money and that's it.

Ashford is worth it.

I am a Political Science and Government major at Ashford and I am a Sophomore. Yes, there are some bad apples at Ashford however, Overall, it is a great University and I would reccomend it to anyone. I have had one instructor who did not get me at all. I had to challange my grades with her and was about fifty percent successful. I still passed the class with an A, however, it took a lot of work. My current TA is someone I am in disagreement with, but, I am still happy. This is an online learning environment with excelerated classes. There obviously is going to be excessive reading and papers which will require a lot of work on your part. You have to have an effective work/life/school balance to ensure you excell in any online school environment. If you are not a motivated person with descent time management, then I would not recommend online classes for you. I have been able to achieve membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society as well as the Ashford chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society. Prior to Ashford, I had no college experience. The first class at Ashford helps the student adapt to the online learning environment as well as helps them with study tips to make the transition to college life easier. The cost for Ashford is more than I would like, however, it is comparable to other universities. Ashford holds the same accredidation as the University of Michigan which means your degree at Ashford does hold it's weight. As far as enrollment and advisors, I have a great relationship with both my academic and financial advisors. The recruiter was fantastic and helped me realize I could afford to return to school and helped me ensure my dream of a college degree would no longer need to be postponed.

Ashford Not as Bad as You Think

I have learned a lot here at Ashford. Most of my instructors have been fine. Some of them are perfectionists. Some of them aren't. I have gone to online and regular college. There are instructors in both online and regular college that were difficult to get along with. We have a tendancy as a human beings to complain about anything that doesn't go exactly our way if we pay for it. If we pay for it, we expect perfection. Instructors are human. We can expect some imperfection. I have just learned to do what the instructor wants then you get a good grade. I am an A student at Ashford. It is directly resulted from my extreme effort. If you grow up and don't expect the instructor to do everything for you like in high school you will do well. Ask your peers or classmates. They don't bite. We are mature adults and have varied life experiences. Use that to help others succeed. We all can teach as much as we all can learn.

The workload IS immense.

You are correct, the workload is immense. However, you are also being taught at at least an undergraduate level, and the undergraduate courses have to cram 20 weeks of instruction (the length of a traditional semester) into 5 weeks. So, for every week you are in class, you will be reading, doing homework, quizzes, etc. for a full month's worth of class. I have had GREAT professors throughout my whole experience so far( I believe I am now in my 8th class) and none of them have been arrogant. And none of them have been overly controlling. They do require work to be done in APA format, and require that assignments are done with the correct amount of work by listing extensive guidelines for what they are supposed to include, but none of them have been control freaks. Also, I have never felt that they just wanted my money. I get the leftover money from my financial aid on time every semester, and my academic advisor even helped me pick classes at my local community college that I could take to transfer in and cover the few core classes I have left. Overall, I have had a great experience here, and never felt like I was mistreated or that they were money hungry.

The Workload is Immense?

Of course the workload is going to be immense; it's a university not a high school and I assume that it's probably an accelerated program. What do you mean the instructors are control freaks and arrogant? Please expound on your statement so we know what you mean?
