My bicycle was parked and locked up in the same place I have been parking it for 2 months every day around 12pm for lunch for about 45 minutes. I went in to the Ashland Food Co op for lunch like normal to come out  and find a note on my bicycle from the Ashland Food Co-op to not park my bicycle in this location & my bicycle tire was slashed. The General Manager of the Ashland Food Co-op had no remorse and stated "I guess you learned your lesson about parking you bicycle at this spot at the Ashland Food CO-op ".

I never once asked the Ashland Food CO-op to pay for my tire or even hinted at it. I probably would have just chocked this up as unfortunate luck, but the way the General Manager & assistant manager chose to handle this situation, is kind of scary. I didn't parked my bike where it states no parking, I didn't even park it in a place where a no parking sign even exists in a remotely close radius.

Bottom line: becareful parking your car or bicycle on the property of the Ashland Food CO-op . The management there cares nothing about their patrons property on there private property while shopping.

If The Shoe Fits

I parked my bike in a place on there property (no where does it say no parking) , they did have any cameras looking at this part of there property and the GM of the Ashland CO-op made sure to inform me that he just did not care. They did admit to touching my bike by place a sign on my seat .  If your friend robs a car and you are in the passenger seat the police view you as an accomplice .  The Ashland CO-op cares only about money you spend in their store (period) .   If anything happens to you on there property, or your property on there property they do not care .

You stated the following in your updates...

Not looking to slander the Ashland Food CO-opp

it would be wrong for me to say anything more than this was "unfortunate bad luck," strange coincidence yes .

- Really?  So is that why the headline of your initial report states...

Ashland Food Co-op Company Sponsors Vandalism

Seems like you pretty much already made up your mind who is at fault.

Completion of Story

AUTHOR: Mike - ()

Yes the note was taken back by the Ashland CO-op and the police officer (report was filed). Being that I have no proof that the GM slashed the tire or anyone on that matter because there were no eye witnesses or cameras facing that area of the Ashland Food CO-op property, it would be wrong for me to say anything more than this was "unfortunate bad luck," strange coincidence yes .

The bike was brought to a bike shop immediate after and vandalism was deemed to be the reason for the flattened tire (Made by the Bike shop). The tire was brand new and had not been used  until that day on road ways (I have a statement from the bike to match that statement aswell).

Point being made here; It was an "unfortunate turn of events" and yes I think the police should investigate and question the Ashland Food CO-op employee who placed this note on the bicycle. I also feel the GM should have handled himself in a more professional manner and I hope this matter is also investigated internally by the Ashland Food CO-op .

100% Agreed, Here is the rest of the information

AUTHOR: Mike - ()

The Police were called and the police officer stated this seems like a normal place to park a bicycle. Again would have never parked there other wise. Not looking to slander the Ashland Food CO-op . The truth should be told about how the General Manager chose to handle the situation.

The Whole Story..

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

Okay there seems to be quite a bit missing to this story.

First of all you have an actual note on paper from the Co-Op stating to not park your bike there and you also have a slashed tire.  Yet you just figured it was "unfortunate luck" and going to let it pass?

Oh..but only after the GM gave you the attitude did you decide to post this on a Public Web Site.  How about going to the police?  Because if what you are saying is 100% true that is a crime and if you are saying the GM did it he could be charged.

Also, how come you just posted a very close up picture of your tire.  How about a scanned copy of this note?  How about a picture showing where you were parked(not that even if you were parked in a bad area that anyone has the right to slash your tires).
