My "leather" couch looks like it has leprosy...

We bought a very expensive leather couch from this store a few years ago.  After minimal use, the "leather" suddenly started bubbling and peeling away all over the couch (not just the areas where we sit).  I called customer service and they told me they could NOTHING for us.  When I pushed back, they asked "Did you buy our leather warranty and did you use our leather conditioner on a monthly basis?"  I told them their extra "leather warranty" nor conditioner was ever offered to me, and that our other leather furniture from other stores were far older and did not have this problem.  I asked them to make an exception to their warranty policy for us, since CLEARLY this couch had a manufacturing defect.  I even spoke with one of their customer service manager in Arizona.

Long story short..  The refused to make ANY repairs, offered NO discount on a new couch, NOTHING...  They just lost a customer for life.

AVOID Ashley furniture!!!  THEIR BUILD QUALITY IS TERRIBLE, their "warranty" is totally bogus, and their customer service is nonexistent

This tone sounds very fimilar, Georgia?

From your comment above: "What this sounds like to me, is that you used SOMETHING on it that "disagreed" with the leather."

Georgia,

You must have forgotten whos the constumer. My complaint was valid and warranted and this site is precisely for my situation. I never would expect such a mean, hateful and malicious rebuttal from a sales manager. You said when we spoke on the phone that I must have used something that "disagreed" with the leather. You were rude on the phone and now you are even more rude online. Your rebuttal is classless and this is an insult to Ashley Furniture.

I will be sending a complaint letter with our discussion here to Ashley Furniture Homestore and Ashley Furniture Industries. If I had an associate who spoke to customers this way I would like to know. Is this how you speak to everyone who voices their complaints with your products and customer service on Yelp?

YOUR problem...

You have made an assumption that they are going to stand behind thier product YEARS after you had made your purchase. They are under NO LEGAL obligation to do ANYTHING for you. Its not about customer retention or customer service. You want them to replace your couch after you have owned it for years. Its not going to happen. The reason is you have no warrenty and you did not use the approved cleaning supplies. Which Im begining to think is what has caused your issue in the first place.

This is a YOU problem. It IS NOT thier fault that the couch is looking the way it is. Thats on YOU. How YOU cleaned it, how YOU used it. Why would you expect them to do ANYTHING for you years after your purchase. Get over yourself and move on. You only show yourself to be a self entitled twit who is trying to embarass a company online to get your way.

There are many different grades of leather and how you take care of them determines how long you get to keep them. I have leather furniture and jackets. I clean and condition them once a year to ensure they last. What this sounds like to me, is that you used SOMETHING on it that "disagreed" with the leather. Thats not on them to remedy. Its on you to learn from the mistake. You claim that no warrenty or conditioner was offered to you. You know thats a lie. Its ALWAYS offered because the salesperson will get a extra dollar on thier paycheck. You said no because of the price. Must be shocking to see someone pull your story apart simply by pointing out YOUR mistakes.

And you do realize that they dont actually make the furniture right??? Well probably not given the demands you have made. You would need to post about the MANUFACTURER if you were trying to embarass them. Pointing at the company that sells it is like demanding that they take care of your problem years after your purchase. A highly unrealistic demand from someone who is too cheap to buy a new one. Its always nice IF someone else is responsable for a problem, but it really sucks when YOU are the responsable party.

In this instance all I see is either a self entitled twit who thinks the rules of the world do not apply to them or a scammer. Which is it?
