Ashworth College ripoff by harassing practices and not standing by their word. Norcross, Georgia

I feel that I have been rip-off by Ashworth College.

I was taking their classes and around Christmas time I recieved a letter that stated that I needed to sign up for another semester and what it was going to cost. Since I have a health problem and I am 63 years old, I decided that I would drop the classes so I called the school and told them what my plans were.

I told them that my health was not good and I had been paying my tuition from my social security disablity check, that I couldn't pay the balance of 320.00 in a lump sum. I asked them if it would be okay if I contunued to pay my payments as I had always done and I have never missed a payment. They said that it was okay that I keep making payments until the sum was paid off.

I asked at that time if I needed to write to the school and tell them my plan and was told that I didn't need too. So I thought that everything was taken care off. I paid my payment in December which was due the 23 and I always paid it at the first of the month as soon as I got the bill and my social security check. In January I got a call and they told me that I was behind on my payments and I again explained to the person on the phone that I was waiting for my bill to come so I could send in my payment. Which was by the way $37.00

At that time I told I wouldn't probably get any more bills to send in with my payment but to send in my payment with my student number on it which I did. Then a week later I get another call asking me about my payment. I told them I had just sent in a payment on the 5th of January.

So again I told that person what I had told the rest, how I plan to handle this bill and again I was told it was okay. I ask at that time if they would send me a print out of my payments when I got it I see that they charge me five dollars late fees. Then I got another call this week about Wednesday I told them that I had talked to some one last week and that they told me to keep on doing what I was doing. But the person I talked to this week became very rude and told me that he would be calling me every week until the bill was paid off. I asked him if I should talk to my lawyer and he said to go ahead that it wouldn't do any good for he was going to keep calling me.

I scraped up $40.00 more dollars and sent to them today.

This is making me sick. I don't need the stress with all my other health issues. I really don't know what else to do I am paying on it and I don't plan not to.

I just don't think that this school is a very good thing.

I had trouble with them getting my test scores back so I e-mailed my Missouri Rep and asked them to look into it and he contacted the school and then I got my test back.

They have now locked me off their web site so I can check on my payments and I haven't finished the last class but I can't get into take the exams.
