I thought I could use it to repair my credit, but I guessed wrong. I applied for an Aspire Visa, thinking that the fees would be worth it if I could use it to pay every month on debt and pay it back before interest accrued. Stupid, I know, but I thought it might help.

Aspire Visa apparently costs $150 to start, $29 per year, and every month you get an extra $6.50 added to it. I was willing to live with that (I don't understand why, now) if my plan would work.

I received the card, had to pay at least $20 to get it activated. Paid by check through the mail, then called to activate. They received it 2/15/05, it cleared my account 2/16/05, and their phone system said the card would be activated 2/21/05. When it was not, I decided to check on-line and found out this is more or less a scam. I want to cancel the account, not be charged anything more, and get rid of these people.

I e-mailed them, thinking that they might be willing to just help me out, talk to me. There is no phone number to contact them.

I'm going to research to find out what I can do, as I've never run into this before. I generally stay away from credit cards since I have so much debt from before that I'm slowly paying off. I thought this would help me do it and build credit at the same time. I was wrong.

I freely admit that I wasn't thinking, that I was too trusting. It's a horrible feeling to be shown once again that there are people out there that will take advantage of people's trust. I'm partly at fault for being naieve, but now I'm just pissed and want to stop these predatory companies.
