Aspire Visa is a credit card which no longer honors its credit card, I received a call on Saturday March 21, 2009 from a customer service rep named Benjamin stating my account is delinquent, and wanted another payment which I have a confirmation letter stating that they received my payment of $93.00 which was due on March 19, 2009. I asked what was my APR which he indicated it was 29.75% I explained I agreed to no such rate, so I requested to speak with a supervisor he explained there was not one that I could speak to, so I asked for the main number and he stated call customer service which would route the call back to them which by the way they were calling from the Phillipines.

FYI most of the large credit card companies outsource to either India or the Phillipines, since the cost of the hourly wage will range from .80 to $1.00 per hour. Prior to closing my line of credit they charge me $179.00 so my point is why would anyone want to pay an unilateral interest rate. Increase the interest only causes financial hardship and speaking with reps outside of the USA is very difficult as they appear to read off a script. I would like to encourage all who are experiencing the same issues to be proactive and perhaps band together to file a class action against this company as there are many consumer attorney's who specialize in dealing with these companies.

Fact is the FTC filed suit on behalf of New York consumers and Aspire was hit with a $11million settlement. If there is an interest of pursuing we must all use the same attorney to file a class action. It will be very likely that once you stop paying they will sell off the debt to a collection agency who will make attempts to settle as they only pay cents on the dollar in the mean time Aspire and the collection may report the debt to a credit bureau(s)but they can be tied up in litigation as well seeing that this company and most credit card companies are raising interest rates when they are receiving bail out money so why increase financial hardships on those who pay their bills on time?

Wake up America its time to be the pursurer than the pursuee. Protect your credit as it takes so long to build it up and can be deminished so quickly by companies such as Aspire. Final note: Should you be contacted my a collection company that buys credit card debt, if you wish to pay them a settlement make sure they delete the debt from your credit, and since they pay a few dollars buying the account offer low, it only cost them a few dollars to buy balances .
