Owner is very pleasant and timely in making appointments. Will come out quickly and can treat on same day.

HOWEVER, bugs will be back in a few weeks. He came out to retreat and identify a bug I didn't recognize. He told me it was a bed bug and to throw out the bed - frame and all -- immediately!!

We got rid of the bed, frantically started washing every linen in the house (breaking the washing machine as well!), but continued our research on bed bugs, because what we found just didn't look like a bed bug to US - the non-"professional".

Called the owner back and after much discussion he admitted it was a Varied Carpet Beetle!! PLEASE look both of these bugs up online and let me know if YOU - the non-"professional" - got them confused!!

Did he even apologize for the loss of the most comfortable bed we owned? Not to mention the chaos the word "bed bug" stirs up which resulted in this house being turned upside down for several weeks until we got the washing machine fixed and a new bed for our daughters!

He did, however, find the time to work up an estimate to rid our home of Carpet Beetles! BTW - we got rid of those after a few weeks of consistent vacuuming - for free!!

RUN from the Assassin! Don't be his next victim!

Owner is Confused with so many complaints!

AUTHOR: Mom23 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 10, 2011

WOW!  I need to take back my comment that the owner is pleasant.  His rebuttal is either full of blatant lies, or he has had similar experiences with several customers and has us all confused!!

“Customer demanded that we treat her home for Carpet Beetles”
If I’m reading this right, I self-diagnosed my home as being infested with Bed Bugs, threw away my bed, and then demanded that Assassin treat my home for Carpet Beetles?  That doesn’t even make any sense!
"Treatment was completed the same day."

No, treatment wasn't completed until a week later since it was raining that day. Doesn't matter in this argument, just wanted to point out another example of where the owner doesn't have the facts correct.

"she believed that we had brought Bed Bugs into her home when we originally came out to provide the Ant estimate and demanded that we return to fumigate her home"

On 10/28/10, I called to let him know that I was still finding ants in my kitchen and also had found a bug that I couldn't identify on my daughter's bed.  He directed me to his webpage which showed the lifecycle of a bed bug and was relieved to find that what I had found did not look like anything on that website.  He made an appointment to come out the following Monday, 11/01/11. I never made any self-diagnosis (other than ruling out bed bugs), nor did I ever suggest that Assassin brought any pests into my home.  Again, he must have me confused with someone else.

"She continued to tell us that she would be throwing out her mattress because the infestation was so severe"

"Continued"?  What does that mean?  How many times did I call and say I was throwing out my mattress?  On what dates?  Was this before you came to my house on November 1st?  Or after?  This doesn't even make sense – must be where he has me confused with another dissatisfied customer!  This was the most expensive and comfortable bed we had in the house -- I definitely was not eager to see it go!

"Infestation"?  I found ONE live and he found ONE dead bug -- hardly an infestation, but definitely reason for ME to continue my research.  Everything I read about bed bugs (and what an exterminator should already know) just didn't jive with what we were (or rather weren't) experiencing.

"wanted us to purchase her a new one."

Really?  No, I didn't, but I should have!

"We advised her not to throw out anything"

Don't I wish that part were true.  The man had me so panicked telling me I shouldn't even wait until my husband came home to help me carry out the mattress.  If that were true, do you think I would really be spending all my time trying to warn others about his incompetence?  It doesn't cost me money to get my own opinion.  That's why I paid a “professional”!  After talking to him a second time to be sure that they were bed bugs as he had insisted, I realized that I knew more about bed bugs than he did!  But, if it were truly I who misidentified the bug, do you really think I would put it out on the internet for the whole world to see?

"We"?  There is only one man that represents this company (must have had a mouse in his pocket!)

"email us a picture of the insect"

Email a picture?  Yes, only days after he came to my house and told me IN PERSON that what I had found was a bed bug.  It was only after I continued my own research and called him back two days later AND rebutted all his continued insistence that it was Bed Bug, that he first sent ME an email with a picture of Carpet Beetle and when I confirmed that the picture he sent me looked more like what I had found, he requested I email the pictures -- yes, pictures of what he had already seen in person at my home.

"We then explained that we would be able to eliminate her Carpet Beetle infestation but it would be an additional charge because we had only treated her home for Ants."

Yes, he said he would call back with an estimate to treat the Carpet Beetles.  By this time, I had lost all faith in the guy, and once again did my own research to find that you can get rid of carpet beetles with regular vacuuming, which I successfully did -- for free!!  By the time it was over, I felt more qualified to identify bugs than the “professional” did!

"as well as repair her washing machine"

Nope, didn't ask for that either, but should have done that too.  I never even talked to him again after he finally correctly identified the bug in my home – by that time I decided to cut my losses. I filed a claim with the local BB and all I asked for was a refund for the initial treatment cost of $156.96.  While I do feel I should be reimbursed for the loss of the bed, I never asked for it because I did make a huge mistake in not asking that he put his recommendations in writing.  For that I've already paid a big price.

The owner follows up his service by paying his clients to make positive comments on the websites listed at the bottom of his rebuttal.  A refund of the initial treatment wouldn’t even put a dent in the cost of my losses, not to mention the horror he created in my home.

Customer demanded that we treat her home for Carpet Beetles

AUTHOR: AssassinDFW - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 24, 2011

We received a call from this customer stating that she was having an issue with Ants in her kitchen and would like for us to provide an estimate and possible treatment. On 09/07/10 a technician was sent to her home, provided a quote to eliminate the Ant infestation and provided her with a 90 day warranty. Treatment was completed the same day.

The warranty states that if she has any problems within those 90 days she could simply call our office and we would return free of charge to re-treat the home for the target insect (Ants). On 11/03/10 we received a phone call stating that she believed that we had brought Bed Bugs into her home when we originally came out to provide the Ant estimate and demanded that we return to fumigate her home.

She continued to tell us that she would be throwing out her mattress because the infestation was so severe and wanted us to purchase her a new one. We advised her not to throw out anything and to email us a picture of the insect in question so it could be properly identified. An email was sent on 11/03/10 which was clearly not a Bed Bug but rather a Varied Carpet Beetle. We then explained that we would be able to eliminate her Carpet Beetle infestation but it would be an additional charge because we had only treated her home for Ants.

At that time she told us that she wanted her mattress replaced because she had thrown it out for fear of it spreading to other rooms in her home as well as repair her washing machine because it had broken while laundering all her clothes. We explained that we never advised her to throw out or launder anything until we could identify the insect and that she took it upon herself to make that decision.
