In 2003 I paid off an unsecured credit card to Providian in the amount of $1,797.00. Out of nowhere, this Asset Acceptance LLC jumped up and started hounding me daily with harrassing phone calls demanding money from me for their fees in supposedly purchasing my delinquent account from Providian.

Three years later they are still bloodsucking money from me by garnishing my wages in the State of Florida. The harrassing, threatening phone calls continued at work, even after Asset was told over and over, by me, co-workers, and my boss, not to call again! My payroll department has been holding money to pay them, and Asset has asked for an "open-ended" account balance until they tell my payroll department they have enough money
out of me. I do not ever see that happening without help from someone. This is a nightmare from hell and I just want help to make them stop!!!! Who can help me with this awful situation?

I have been late on other bills due to this and it is sucking the life out of me.....

Asset Acceptance are all out for the money

AUTHOR: Brandy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 18, 2005

I am in the same situation. I had a Providan Credit card. My husband was put in the hospital with a blood clot to the lung about 8 years ago. I lost my job and we went on welfare. I couldn't pay the bill. I couldn't hire a lawyer to file bankruptcy. Needless to say I received a paper in the mail from the local courts in my area said that asset acceptance took me to court.

I received a letter and a payment slip that said inclose copies of your paycheck stubs and we will stop the garnishment. I sent them what they asked for along with a payment.

When they garnished my wages I called them and they said that they received my check but not the paystubs (when I sent them in the same envelope).

I argued with her for an hour. She said for me to fax her copies, so I did. She calls me back and said that they need so much money per month to stop.

Well that amount equaled 1 whole paycheck per month for me.. This all happened within the last 2 months. This debt is over 8 years old. I for one thought it was againt the law to collect or put this on someones credit after 7, but it is happening.

Now that my husband is back to work we have enough money to file bankruptcy. That is the only option to do, to have them stop garnishing my wages. Best luck to all of you!
