As I am unemployed, am receiving state assistance, and without any form of communication. I saw Assurance wireless advertise on TV, so I decided that I would apply. So, I called them, they e-mailed me an application, and the next day I faxed it off (3/23/2011).

Well, after about a week, I called to ask what is going on, and the woman who I talked to said that there is no "order" for applications and that I should get an update within a few days. Well, here it is, 4/5/2011, I decided to e-mail them, and was really cool. I explained my situation and why this is important for me to get service through them.

I just checked the status of my application, and it has gone from "we have received your application and it is in review" back on 3/23 to "mailing application, you should get an application within 2-5 days" to 4/5. I have given them very personal and private information, and it looks to me like they have lost my application.

So, as of right now, I have given them one more chance, and am on the verge of filing a complaint with the attorney general's office.

I first was told about assurance wireless through dss i had a cell phone through verizon bill was so much that i couldnt pay it. I also have a car that leaves me on the side of the road at least once r twice a month I live in the country and have a 3 year old. I like having my cell for this purpose, and im also doing a work experience program was told employees want even look at your application if u dont have a phone number. Well i thought that assurance wireless was here to help so i mailed my application in 3 months ago!! They say that application got lost so on june 7 i faxed in to more applications, waited about 3 weeks and then called back to check the status still pending. People would refuse to help me and they kept telling me the same thing so beginning of july i mailed in another application along with my fax verifacations and a complaint called yesterday no one could help me faxed in my 5th application and my 2nd complaint and also emaild them still nothing back so starting to think im wasting my time....

Entitlement

As I am unemployed, am receiving state assistance, and without any form of communication
- They sent you an application through E-mail,  you sent them the application by Fax and are on the Internet posting a "Ripoff Report".  That sounds like you have at least a couple forms of communication.

The problem is not only that you are trying to get free wireless.  But that you are upset that not only did they take too long, but now they want more documentation to prove that you truly need it.

As a guess I would bet that you have Cable TV.  So how about this...cut the Cable and go out and buy your own wireless phone.  There are several pay-as-you-go plans that are only a fraction of the average monthly cable bill.  Do you eat out?  How about going to the grocery store and making your own food?

By the way there is a distinction between WIRED and WIRELESS.  I doubt you could convince anyone of the necessity of a "lifeline" WIRELESS Service.  But I have no problem with someone truly in need getting a "lifeline" service for a WIRED number.  However, the second you go mobile, you need to pay for it.

What's not right...

AUTHOR: Dan J - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, April 11, 2011

Nothing irritates me more than people who make arrogant comments such as that.

I too have paid my taxes for this particular service, so quit whining because I need a little help.

You are one of those people who has their heads in the sand, who thinks that everyone should be just like you, and who feels that it is appropriate to slander those who are in my situation. You don't know a single thing about me or anyone else who utilizes something we all pay for (including myself).

I am not saying those who are milking the welfare cow should have the same rights when they don't bother to get them selves a job and make an attempt at making a life of their own.  However, if you are a person who has been responsible, been working all your life, and needs short term assistance, then that is fine as it is not milking the system.

I can guarantee that if you knew me or other people in my situation, who are responsible, but in a real proverbial bind, then you'd show a little compassion, and make every attempt to help.

I was always raised to respect people, to treat them as they wanted to be treated, and to help those who are in need. So, if you want to take a stab at me, go ahead, because I am asking for help because I have paid into the system for such an event, it is being done in a responsible manner, and will be paid back when I get back to work.

Application Denied because being unemployed makes me ineligible for services!

AUTHOR: Dan J - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, April 07, 2011

As of 4/6/2011, I found out that I was denied services because I was ineligible for services. Slight problem here. It says
clearly on their own documentation that I complete on the form, the section that says if I am receiving services, or my income (plus attached proof).

So I completed the income section and sent them an unemployment statement and they still denied my application! When I called them, they then wanted my past years W-4's, plus my unemployment..

Let me get this right, they are now requiring more information than what their own form says I need. Not right! So, I have resubmitted my application with updated information and will see how this turns out.

Still not happy!
