April 17th 2014 bought   four nexus 7 tablets, two for my children's birthdays, one for my wife and myself. My kids wanted one and paid towards the units I got. When they came, one unit was DOA and another one had charging issues which actually the charging unit caught fire on the second. Trying to contact them proved fruitless and get sent to voicemail so I did two reports on new egg to warn others about their tablet products. The cords were flimsy and USB ports very soft. Both the charger and tablet are market UL approved but when checking with UL in regards to the dangerous chargers that run extremely hot I found out what has the UL stamp is not what was sent in to UL for approval rating. ASUS replied twice on new egg they would replace the units and chargers just to show good face on the website but has not done a thing whatsoever and will be filing small claims this week. I used to buy a lot of motherboards from them in the past and never knew how crooked the company was till I tried different products of theirs. Save yourself time and aggreviation and stay away from Asus products.

Update, used components

I decided with small claims to cover all costs of repairs and replacements. Will followup with courts decision. That being said let me now explain my knowledge on electronics. Im a tech and can work on just about any item down to component level. Asus has so many issues with all their products that there are littlerly hundreds of third party companies who make just about every replacement part for all Asus products wether its a screen, battery, molex connector, speaker, bezels. I just ordered parts for all units under waranty to repair every tablet and here is the suprise I found when I opened the second unit thats been dead since day of purchaase. The tablet was supposed to be a model me370T, but instead the motherboard was an earlier model with a newer serial number slapped over the old. Asus is selling brand new tablets with refurbished parts.
