I cancelled internet/telephone provider AT & T in April 2011 and switched to Charter Communications.

On June 24th, I received a bill from AT & T for $120. When I called to ask what the bill was for, I was routed to four or five different people and in the process one told me it was for a modem and another two told me that the bill was for early termination of my contract with AT & T.

I do not have a cell phone, only land line and I had internet DSL service with AT & T. I NEVER agreed to or signed  any contract with AT & T. After arguing with the rep, I was told the only recourse I had was to dispute the bill by writing to the address on the back of the bill.

I wrote a letter of dispute to AT & T on June 27th and informed the company that I did not ever have a contract with them and unless they could prove otherwise I would not be paying their bill. I informed them that I expected this matter to be cleared up immediately or I would send letters to my state's attorney general and also to the F.C.C.

So far I have received no response from AT & T.

One of the reasons I cancelled my service with AT & T was because every single month for more than a year I had to call them to adjust my bill because I was being overcharged each time I received a bill. This always involved at least an hour on the phone with the promise each time that the problem had been resolved and the bill would be correct from then on. Despite their reassurances, the problems continued each and every month.

AT & T attempts to cheat customers however they can. They provide poor service and are unresponsive to customer complaints. I highly recommend that if you don't use their service, you don't sign up with them and if you do use them, do your best to change.

I will NEVER sign up with AT & T for any kind of service ever again.
