ATG Credit ATG Credit BMG Music Scam Chicago Illinois

I regularly check my credit as it's something very important to me to keep perfect.  Upon checking it a week ago, I noticed a collections account on there, ATG Credit, in the amount of $24.00.  I immediately called them and was told that the account belonged to BMG Music for 2 CDs I ordered in 2007.  I told them I haven't lived at that address in years and have never heard about either a supposed bill or any collections letter from them.  They said they got the letter a couple of months ago and they sent letters to my old address.  They said they couldn't tell me what CDs, or any contact information for BMG Music, only the account number.  I told them this wasn't mine as I don't order CDs, but since it was only $23.65, I would be willing to pay it just to get it off my credit report.  They said it would only show up as "PAID" and could not be removed.  I advised them I am disputing this since a.) I didn't order any CDs b.) I was never notified of any bill, any collection letter.  I also disputed it with the credit reporting agencies and have sent a certified letter of validation to ATG Credit, which I'm waiting to get back.  After reading Ripoff Report, I'm glad I didn't pay it as it appears this company tries to scam people into paying for something they didn't do, since it's a small amount, just to make it go away.
