I heard about ATK from a Friend of a Friend.  I read their documentation and talked to their staff.  The beginning it was a honeymoon.  I got my first engine from ATK, Mitsubishi 4G63 Turbo. Motor came looked fine, we had to put all the accessories and bolts on from the old motor not a big deal.  Put the engine in did all the neccessary work for installation.  Did the live start of the motor it ran for about 1 minute and died tried to start the motor and it made a clunk sound.  Pull spark plugs and found #4 stuck.  In short the Valve(s) clapse and broke off in the cylinder.  I called ATK they had me send the motor back, they admitted fault sent a replacement engine.


I specifily ask how they test the motors and what steps to take to prevent this failure again.  They stated "Gregg" that they use a electric motor to crank test the motor, but they don't do a live test.


Went through this process again and I used the starter to crank test the motor and ensure oil pressure and lube.  Did this for 30 seconds at a time until pressure built up.  Live started the motor.  This time it ran for 10 seconds and I heard a snap.  I went to #4 for pull the spark plug and it was damage and you could see the broken valve.


I called ATK got a RMA and took the motor to a shop that is experienced with this motor.  I told ATK this and stated they would put the new motor in as to avoid this happening a 3rd time.


To my surprise, ATK would not return my calls until I called several times and then Gregg called me back stated that they went through the motor and stated the timing tension moved between the time it left the factory, to me and back to ATK.  They stated that it was not a factory default and credit me a core.  I asked them what about my motor.  I had given them the orignal and the exchanged and I am out a motor.  Gregg stated he would send me the documentation and the broken motor to the shop where I sent it from.  I have yet to recieved the documentation or the motor.  Called today they stated that my e-mail address rejected it (lies) and they gave no status on the motor. 


Since the motor failed twice same location same way, I looked at it as ATK's Fault but it is not the case.  They are not blaming me, but I'm blamming them for not live testing.


I will update when I know more.
