Sorry this is so long but this is what happened...

Two young guys around my age came to my door yesterday. One said that he does commercials but next year will be an intern for a popular radio station here in town (100.9). Well he talked real fast and seemed real cool, the perfect personality for radio, not to mention he had a face for the radio.

Anyway, he went on to tell me that he needed points and I wasn't sure how he got the points but he had this tablet for me to fill out my name, address and phone number. At this point I was thinking he just needed to go around and get signatures or was going to do some sort of survey or something, I wasn't sure. Then he tells me to sign and I do.

Next, he gives me a brochure and tells me to pick out three magazines that look interesting. When I looked at the brochure there were no prices mentioned but just points. I hadn't caught on yet that he was trying to get me to subscribe to magazines !! I picked out three magazines. He asked to come in my home to use the table to write on. I let him know that I don't let strangers in so he used the chair sitting on the porch.

Then, he turns the tablet back around to me and tells me that each magazine was going to be at least $40.00. I let him know that I wasn't interested in purchasing anything. Earlier he asked me what I did for a living and I told him customer service and that I didn't make much and I just had a baby three months ago. He didn't care and told me "Well, you already signed it."

He told me that I can just cancel the subscription and I let him know that I didn't even want it. He started asking for payment. He asked for a check, I let him know I don't use checks. He asked for cash and I told him that I don't use cash. Then, he went as far as to ask me to go to an ATM. I let him know I wouldn't do that and have to pay a $2 bank fee. Plus, if I were to go to the ATM for him what would he do in the meantime? At this point I certainly didn't trust him especially him being alone at my house w. his buddy. I told him that I want that paper back that I signed and he refused to give it to me. He told me that he needed that paper or he would be charged $100. I let him know that wasn't my problem b/c he scammed me into signing something I didn't agree to. He told me again to just cancel my subscription when it started to arrive. I tried to grab the paperwork that had my signature on it out of his hands but he held it tight and hid it in his back pocket. He told me that he will void it and I told him that I wanted to see him write "void" on the paperwork with my signature but he wouldn't do it.

So I came up with a scam of my own. I asked him for his brochure back so I can find something that I was "truely interested" in. He hesitated but gave it to me. I asked for the brochure so that he would pull that paper back out that had my signature on it, but he didn't. So I asked him for a receipt because I noticed there was a white copy (that he wrote on) and behind that were carbon copies (a pink sheet and yellow sheet). He refused to even give me a copy. I told him I would call the cops if he didn't give it back and he still refused. I still had his brochure and he told me to give his brochure back to him or he'll call the cops on me. i told '"please do because you'll be doing me a favor." and I tried closing the door but he put his foot in the door so I couldn't close it. I ended up shutting the door and calling my boyfriend at work.

I let my boyf. know what was going on and he came on over. The guys proceeded to go door to door in my neighborhood so that stalled them while my boyfriend was on his way. Well to make a long story short. They didn't want to give the receipt to my boyfriend. He made failed attempt to snatch it from his back pocket and the guy turned around like he was going to punch him but his second attempt he was able to snatch it away from him and tore it up in his face. When my boyfriend went up to the guy he was in the process of scamming someone else who opened their door to him. I should have called the police but I didn't. I will keep my eyes peeled to see if I see the guys and if I do, I'll certainly call authorities.

This was certainly a wake up call. PEOPLE you do not have to open your doors just because someone knocks on it and certainly don't sign anything !!
