I was an ATT wireless customer for 4 years. Until I found out ATT was wiretapping peoples phones, and tracking peoples usage of the Iphone to find out if they were tethering. I contacted ATTs corporate headquarters and was told they were indeed monitoring there customers and flagging data usage among every thing they did with the Iphone. Im surprised a class action lawsuit has never been filed. I ended my contract with ATT I owed 58.00. They put it on my credit for 160.00. I want to let people know how this comapany handled me and what they do to their customers. My advice dont sign contracts with them, they will ruin your credit if you have a problem. They watch your every move with the iphone from turning it on to off to whatever. And they overcharge for data. Not a good experience. Buyer beware!

AT&T is strange
AUTHOR: Margie - (USA)

I actually verbally agreed to a two year agreement 8 hours ago, and after realizing I didn't need their internet access, since I have my own- attempted to alter the contract with a representative to remove the internet, since I was paying 160 a month for 2 phones, which I thought was too much. According to my paperwork, I have 14 days to cancel my phone, which I wasn't interested in cancelling, the phones weren't that bad, even if they didn't give me any choices through their exclusive offer. after a quick visit to Walmart, and seeing comparable phones going for about 10 cents, it made me wonder why they made these phones appear as if they were worth 400$ each! they claimed it was the type of phones I had, which was the reason why I needed the internet. they claimed I would not be able to dial out unless I had the internet. Feeling like they were full of it, I tested that theory, by turning off the internet, and dialing. the phone worked just fine! I can't believe AT&T treats their customers like they are nitwits. I was hung up on by three of their representatives, and the last representative told me she wasn't going to hang up on me, but she also did not help me with my plan either, except to cancel it. paying 160$ for two 4gsmartphones per month for 2 years, with only 1g of roaming between two phones (that is approximately 250 webpage views per phone) is just ridiculously stupid and expensive. I did find their general customer service a bit more technically inclined than their tech department, however. (ironic, isn't it?) closing the deal to break my contract, I offered them this solution; I keep the phones and they don't get a dang dime, or they can take back their phones and not charge me the 35$ restocking fee per phone, for a total of 70$ they warned me about if I change my mind on the contract. It will cost me an additional 5.50$ to return the phones, but in the end it will be well worth it. My suggestion is avoid the contracts anywhere at all costs, and go with a good month to month service, like cricket if you are lucky enough to have it in your area. I am sorry to see that the customer who reported the contract problem had her credit destroyed because of AT&T's billing practices, but I'd agree! don't sign a contract with these people.
