I have been a customer of AT&T now for the last 5 months and I have been charged over $6,000. Yes $6,000. My initial plan with taxes should be no more than $279.00 monthly. Initially I got a huge bill indicating that my internet usage was off the charts; however the charges were on my two (2) teenage daughter's phones. Now receiving this bill for over $1,700. I was upset but I paid the bill, augured with my daughters, them adamantly saying that they do not use the internet on their phones. At that point I suspended their phones as punishment and have not turned them back on.

On the second bill I received some charges on my daughter's phones for a partial month and over $900 on MY phone so immediately I knew that the charges were fraudulent. I was extremely upset and immediately called AT&T to discuss this matter. They told me that there is a button on the phone that will automatically turn the internet service on if pushed knowingly or unknowingly. So I asked them if there was a way that they could turn this service off. I was told no, if I wanted to use the texting then I had to have the internet service. So again my phone bill was some outrageous amount. However, I was determined not to pay this unauthorized amount and AT&T game me a credit of over $1,000, now I started thinking and talking to my friends and the more information I got from them the more I knew that I had completely committed an error in transferring my service to AT&T.

As a small business owner, it is important that my customers are able to get me at all times and my phone service has been disconnected at times during the clearing process of me trying to understand why my bill is so large. I have been told on several occasions that I can not get a number to the corporate office because all concerns are handled through the CS Department. I call them EVERY month, stay on the phone with them for 2-3 hours at a time before a credit for the internet charges can be provided. I am of the opinion that this is absolutely ridiculous.

I guess to sum up this conversation I don't think that AT&T cares at all about their customers. My concern in this matter is for the young people that don't understand the importance of credit and get these outrages charges and just chose not to pay them, resulting in these fraudulent charges being reported to the credit bureaus and for the elderly that don't have the will to fight the huge AT&T for correction of such charges.

As a large corporation, AT&T has a responsibility to set a standard of service and to provide accurate billing for their customers.

How do we stop them?
Who do we talk to?
Will they stop?
How do we make them pay?

Thanks for listening.
