After using SBC Yahoo (now ATT Yahoo) DSL services for our business email tasks for many years, we suddenly could not send out any email messages using SBC Yahoo SMTP outgoing mail server. It was 9am - we had only sent about 15 or 20 emails between our whole staff so far - and we were receiving errors "this user has reached the limit of emails allowed to send in a single day". This was sudden, unexpected, and ridiculous for normal business email practices. We thought this must be a mistake.

A call to the customer service department informed us that they imposed a new rule of no more than 20 (yes, that's right only 20 for your entire business office) emails per day. So you can communicate with a few of your customers by email and then no more email for you.

Not only this, but the support reps we were "escalated to" were SO RUDE! The woman was rude from the beginning and obviously had no technical knowledge of what our problem was. We tried to explain the error to her and get a remedy, and she just kept claiming that our program was the email software and we should use Yahoo.com for email instead. She was a moron. We don't want to use Yahoo.com for email. We just want this dumb limitation taken off! She *refused* to help us, refused to transfer us to any other rep, and claimed there were no managers or anyone available to talk to us. All lies. I seriously think this woman had some kind of mental problem and she was taking it out on random customers for no good reason.

We were forced to change our email services to another provide to continue conducting normal email business. And I am not talking about sending out even 100s of emails....just want to reply to all my customers like a respectable business person.

We will be writing a letter to the corporate office of ATT/Yahoo/SBC, but I encourage anyone who experienced poor service with them lately to protest and send all sorts of complaints to whomever you can. They have become arrogant because they own all the phone lines and DSL lines and they just do not care.
