Beware of the Direct TV/AT&T bundle as advertised through U.S.mail,TV,internet .They will not even ask if you want to keep your present phone number, and, play "bait and switch" with the $$ plans(there lies the cause) When trying to get my old phone#(i am disabled, all my medical staff and family/friends cannot get ahold of me until i get my number of over a decade back up and working).AT&T repeatedly refused to allow my phone number to be ported to my new provider, saying that i have a contract with them for DSL ,which was canceled along with the telephone10 days ago,but they again(3RD TIME) refused this A.M. saying exactly the same thing to brighthouse cable, that i have a pending contract for DSL on MY phone number of thirteen years,

(SO FAR I HAVE 6 HOURS OF HOLD TIME IN 3 DAYS)they are waiting for me to just turn over and accept them as my provider.THEY WILL NOT TAKE NO AS AN ANSWER,SO AVOID THIS HEADACHE,AND STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING .....AT&T.  You will be treated as a nonperson,They could care less that i am disabled, and that what they are doing is extreme retention, whether you want it or not, they'll shove it down your neck, and you'll play hell trying to get your life back,as your just a $$ sign to them,PLUS THE SNOTTY SUPERVISORS WERE THE WORST.     SO 1 WEEK OF SERVICE TURNED INTO (SO FAR) no phone number (i had to call my cell to find my new #)out about $100.00 and stress off the charts,ALL BECAUSE A DIRECT TV BUNDLE ,RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THE BAIT AND SWITCH. THIS IS WHAT THEY DID TO ME,DON'T ALLOW THEM TO DO IT TO YOU TOO!!

Just an addendum to the original report. Now  the fake charges appear DEC21 $177.53 bill for longdistance service of 15 days, when i was in chicago and the home was boarded, up some how at&t thinks i should pay for the right to have them as a long distance provider even though there was 0 call made EVER the $177.53 is for the privaledge of having them as my provider.

RUN FROM THESE THIEVES,THEY ARE BILLING PEOPLE IN THE HOPES THEY'LL PAY OFF THE BILL TO MAKE THEM GO AWAY.I PERSONALLY AM GOING TO FIGHT THESE A**HOLES TOOTH AND NAIL AND DRAG THEIR NAMES THRU MUCH MORE THAN MUD

First you are under the impression that you OWN your number. This is as far away from the truth as it can get. Your keeping your old number is a courtesy that the phone providers offer. Now you say you cancelled your services, this means that you probably have a ETF or early termination fee. Until that is paid, they can hold that number as THEY own it. They are under NO obligation to give you this number back. Especially after you have ported your number over to them and then cancelled the service. This means that even if you dont have a ETF, you would still have to wait ATLEAST 10 business days for them to release it.

You will either have to wait for the number to be released or accept the fact that you really dont own the number and move on. Yes it would be a bit of a pain to have to contact everyone you know to inform them of your new phone number. But this happends EVERY day. Its definatly NOT as bad of a task as you make it out to be handicapped or not.

If you have a ETF, then you will have to pay it before they will release the number. You can complain to the FCC but it wont really help.
