Having (at the time) recently opened a small business, my business partner and myself signed up for AT&T Small Business phone and DSL service. Due to "reasons unknown", the service never did work. The DSL never achieved sync and the phone never got past the dial tone (every time you attempted to dial a number, after the first digit the phone just "beeped). I made AT&T aware of this several times, however, the problem was never resolved and we cancelled service. In the meantime, we had already had our business cards (over $150.00 worth) and letterhead printed by a local print shop with the AT&T number. Friday, we received a letter from a collection agency for over $2000.00 in fees and charges from ATT because they "attempted to provide service", threatening litigation. I don't know where you are from, but around here, I can't "Attempt to provide computer repair service", fail, and still expect to get paid for something that never did work to begin with.

So now I am out $150.00 for business cards with the wrong phone number, $100.00 worth of letterhead, $750.00 worth of signs, and a seemingly endless supply of literature that cost several hundred dollars more to print, not to mention the first months phone bill and $2000.00 in "Misc. Fees" for attempting (and failing miserably) to provide phone service. And people wonder why so many small businesses fail.

I am happy to say that we found a (((competitor's name redacted))) who has provided top-notch service from day one and a local sponsor who has helped significantly by providing new literature and letterhead, however, there is no way that we can justify  $2000 for something that didn't work. I suggest any business avoid AT&T Small Business services at all costs, or else learn the hard way like we did that Ma Bell is still the pig it was in the heyday of telephone

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome. CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report. In this case we removed an alleged competitors name
