Complaint Review: Attic Angel
Attic Angel AKA Horrible hiring and firing situations, sexual harassment, Horrible treatment of residents in the Memory Care ward, "The Haven" Madison Wisconsin
*Office politics are unfair to the employees who break their backs caring for these residents
*When brining suspicions of abuse to leaderships notice, the reporting employee may find him/herself being disciplined for various bogus accusations
* Harassment policy only protects females, religions, ethnicities, and age. It does not protect lifestyle choices or males. Being called a "f@ggot" by co-workers and residents is acceptable.
*Residents are often over medicated by staff members who don't wish to deal with a resident experiencing a hard time coping.
*Staff are often encouraged to lie to memory impaired residents rather than respect their dignity as an adult by being open and honest about the residents situation.
*Staff often speak rudely and inappropriately to residents. Many mock the challenges certain memory impaired residents experience by mimicking, laughing, or teasing.
*Verbal abuse on residents is commonplace in both the Health Center (respite, medically needy, or severely diseased/ill/injured) and The Haven (The Memory Impaired Unit ).
*Rn's are very unattentive to residents needs often remarking "well no big deal, he/she is on hospice anyway. Reporting falls, fevers, resident health concerns often are not responded to or followed up.
*Residents pain is often allowed to be evaluated by NON MEDICAL personnel or family members not trained in medicine often with the resident being left to suffer in pain.
*Bruises left by staff members from improper transferring, "dropping" residents against toilet railings, or improper use of a gait belt are charted 99% of the time as "resident inflicted"
*Scheduled medications will often be charted as given when the resident is asleep or being resistant, and the dose is thrown in trash. Often, these illegally disposed of medications are narcotics and controlled medications.
*Theft seems to be common and is often blamed on residents when it is most improbable he or she is guilty of such an action.
*Residents who are being fed by staff are often left for hours and occasionally put into bed for the night with food still caked to their faces and clothing.
*Residents are often left sitting in soiled undergarments because staff does not feel like changing them (and various reasons are often given to rationalize such an action, none of which are correct)
*Residents with high output of urine and are incontinent will often be "double diapered" so staff do not have to change resident as often. (and Attic Angel states they respect resident dignity)
*New Higher training is unsupervised and unorganized
*Staff are reluctant to bring things to leaderships attention out of fear of retaliation from not only co-workers but leadership AND Human Resources. Only those who blindly perform their job duties are rewarded.
