I was leaving my classes at the University of Central Florida and walking to my car in one of the Parking Garages. I noticed a guy putting what looked like speakers back into his vehicle. I didn't think anything of it until the guys pulled up behind my car asking if I wanted to buy speakers. He gave me the speel about how the "idiot at the warehouse overfilled the order" and how if they didn't get rid of the extra's "the boss would just take them home".

He pulled out the catalog and showed me the "retail price" and swore up and down that they weren't stolen. They said they were on their way to Fullsail to deliver the speakers and had to leave soon because they had already been written up for being late three times.

It seemed perfectly reasonable to me that Fullsail would be ordering large amounts of very expensive speakers, so I asked him how much he wanted for them and he said $400, I told him I couldn't pay that much and that I need to leave I was late. He wouldn't give up though, he asked me how much I would be willing to pay for the speakers, and I told him I couldn't give him more than 200. He said he would take 400 for the pair, and I again said no.

Finally he said if you were to give anything over the 100 apiece how much would it be. I told him I would give 300 for the pair. He sat there and debated about it. Then finally said "If I ever see you in a bar, you'll owe me a round". He loaded the speakers into my car, then asked if he could ride with me to the atm.

After I gave him the money he went out to his SUV that his buddy had followed us in and left in the direction of Fullsail. I was a little excited thinking that I had made a good deal. I figured if I didn't like them I could just sell them on ebay.

When I got to work I began searching google trying to find the brand and Item number. The number one hit... Ripoff Report. From what I have read on here they have been in this area for a while and I will not be the last college student they scam. The two guys were both about 5'10" one had a grungy gotee and shaggy unkempt dark hair. The other was a small build and had really short blonde hair. The were driving a large tan SUV, An Expidition or Navigator.

I am going to report this to the UCF Police Department in the hopes that they will not beable to sell anything else on Campus. After reading the reports on Ripoff Reports and looking back I am surprised at how easily you can be fooled in to believing something that should be setting off alarms. I will be watching out for these guys, and I will do everything I can to stop them. This just happened this morning 10:30 am 2-6-04 UCF South Parking Garage.
