Authority Tax Services LLC Beware! Ruthless Predators at Large - another Tax Scam Company! Irvine Office California

We searched the internet for a tax specialist attorney. An individual attorney's name came up and we called for an appointment.  We thought we were hiring a tax attorney not a tax service. We were caught in their scam by believing that their "team" (attorneys included) would all work together for us and they were confident they could get the taxes owed reduced. We found out later that they boast about this in their radio commercials.  We hadn't heard them or been aware of them before.

They knew from our initial consultation that we did not qualify for any reductions (offer in compromise) but they played on our fear of the IRS and emotions and took our money. $3250. Agreeing on a payment plan since we did not have the full amount.

They should have been honest from the initial fact gathering and tell us that we did not qualify.  Instead they led us on for over 4 months until they had received all their money from us and all the other steps to clear the way for negiotiations they said they would do immediately were ignored. Then they had the Attorney assigned to our "team" make one phone call to our revenue officer and ask for a payment plan for the full amount. 

There was never any negotiating for any kind of abatement or reduction. There were other avenues of approach they could have taken to at least reduce the penalties, but did not put the effort into it.

We had already spoken to our revenue officer regarding that solution and did not agree with it, that's why we wanted an attorney to help us find a better solution.

After they had the assigned attorney to our so-called case make the phone call to the revenue officer, they sent us a letter saying they had fulfilled their contractual obligation and set us free to finish up with the IRS on our own.

We have since hired a tax specialist attorney, who is working on getting the tax abatement, lien release, and all the work that Authority Tax Services said they would do, but never did. His fee is almost half of what Authority Tax collected for 1 phone call doing nothing. 

We found out the only way to stop these fraudulent companies is by reporting their scam to the Attorney General of your state, the District Attorney of the County they are in, and the Better Business Bureau.  It takes a lot of time and work but if these agencies get enough complaints then they can file a class action suit and go after them. They will keep your complaint on file until they have gathered enough.

From what I have read, this company had quite a few complaints with the BBB so they shut down and started up again under another name.  Keep reporting them. You can also take them to Small Claims Court in an attempt to get your money back.
