This is the lowest of the low in used car sales! My 19 year old son is living on his own and has a baby and a wife. They went in there to establish credit and walked out with a car at best that blue books at $2500 (a 1999 Ford) and Auto Credit - Nikki to be exact - wrote them up a loan for $9000! Plus my son turned a car into them for a trade - in that was $800! Well, the car spun out after only having it for one month and rolled over with all three in the vehicle. Insurance in no way will cover the $9000 nor did Auto Credit advise my son at time of purchase of gap insurance. Now they are going after my kids credit and trying to collect $9000 on a $2500 car that they had one month! I tried to reason with the finance department which is like reasoning with Hitler. They are bottom feeders. Stay away!!!!

If you are characterizing their going after your son for the contracted amount AFTER being paid by the insurance company...there is NO RIP OFF here. Complaining about $9000 for a car with a KBB value of $2500, now that's a different matter. What was the price of the car as per the contract? What was the interest rate? If he had no credit history, the APR was high because of his risk factor. He is an unknown quanity because he has no bill paying track record, good or bad. All the figures would have been listed on the contract.

Did he read the contract BEFORE signing it? If he read it, why did he go thru with it if the total price was 9000? There is no reason anybody needs to play doormat to a dealer! You or your son are the customers. You don't need the dealer...the dealer needs YOU! Without you, there is ZERO PROFIT! Therefore you don't need to accept whatever crumb they throw your way! If you don't like the price, you get up and leave! I understand he did this on his own and if you were there he may not have listened to you anyway. He made some big mistakes in this sorid affair. As such, there are many lessons he can learn from this.

He WAS Upside Down!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 12, 2012

I don't think you understand the terminology. He owed more than the car was worth...that is obvious and that is what you are complaining about!!! Again...the full coverage insurance which he was required to have in place ONLY covered the value of the car...DEFINITELY NOT the car plus loan interest! If you really talked to an atty, then he/she should have explained that to you. Being upside down is common place. Most people are and it doesn't come back to bite them until something like this happens. You have NO CASE here unless he did have GAP insurance or paid for GAP insurance and either he didn't get what he paid for or he has it and the insurance company is attempting to weasel out of their obligations. AGAIN...insurance DOES NOT COVER the value of the car AND the loan's interest. He is most defintely on the hook for the entire contracted amount IF they decide to press the issue. THERE IS NO RIP OFF HERE! When you owe more than the car is worth...you are upside down in the deal. You said the KBB figure is $2500 and he owed $9000! 9000 IS MORE THAT 2500. Therefore he is upside down in the deal.

Again I called a lawyer what Autocredit did is nothing short of taking advantage of a kid. Had he come to me first I would have stopped it. So again My point is Autocredit is a scumbag dealer not looking out for anyone but themselves and yes he had full coverage. Wow you people obviously don't know what that entails. He wasn't upside down except for the fact that they put him there! Whatever my son nor myself are low class and how dare you accuse either of us of that? So glad you never made mistakes as a young kid starting out, grow up and quit insulting us as I came on here to make a report not defend my kid!

The Mark of the Dummy

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

You can always tell the low class, trailer park mentality...those who have NO CLUE and NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE to offer any intelligent rebuttle..."you must work for them". The truth to this is your son demolished the car...a car in which he was upside down in the deal. He is on the hook for the contracted loan amount. There is nothing unusual, illegal or immoral about this. He bought a car with little or no money down with a huge interest rate which is an absolute guarantee he would be upside down. The insurance he did carry on the car covered the car only at its value one second before he demolished it. Too bad you don't know or like the financial facts of life but I don't work for them either.

You got nothing right - Kenny!

AUTHOR: jen - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, June 11, 2012

First of all, this is about Auto Credit - not my son or my family's credit history, but since you bring it up - I'll defend us. My son that you are so quick to judge DID have full coverage, sounds like you don't know how insurance works. They will cover the car - not the loan amount. My son went on his own and got this car THEN told me. He doesn't have bad credit - he has NO credit. And GAP insurance - yes I would have told him to get that and we wouldn't be in this predicament but it was too late when he called me as I'm in Newport Beach Ca and he in Illinois. Hmmmm - I wonder how I could live in Newport Beach if I had bad credit or was as ignorant as you - KENNY! Now sounds to me like maybe you work for Auto Credit as your intelligence level seems to be that of a used car salesman. No legit company in their right mind would charge someone $9000 for a 1998 Ford Explorer. So as I discuss this with my lawyer - we laugh at ignorant angry poor people such as yourself that don't want to put an end to scum bag car dealers. Oh and another thing Mr. Know it All - the finance company you mention - they ARE the finance company! So before you start casting judgement on a young kid starting out take a look in the mirror as to why you're such a miserable bitter piece of .

I think I have this figured out....

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, June 11, 2012

Your son bought an over-priced car at a deadbeat lot, took it out and totalled it within 30 days.

Then, he had NO insurance or inadequate insurance, and you think the finance company should cut him a break....right?

I notice you said "Well, the car spun out after only having it for one month and rolled over with all three in the vehicle."

The CAR spun out and your son had nothing to do with it, again, am I right?

My guess is, this isn't the first generation of this family with bad credit.

Others on Ripoff Report complain that sellers demand gap insurance and  you're unhappy because "you weren't told about it."

The bad news for you (him) is, he signed a contract to pay an agreed upon amount and this does NOT relieve him of this responsibility.
