I bought a car from J.D. Byrider and not even a year later, I'm putting a new transmission in it! It's a 1999 Ford Taurus and I'm paying $145 bi-weekly for it. The total price of the car was something like $9000. I know when you deal with a buy-here pay-here place the price goes up, but come on the car is only worth about $2000 maybe $3500 at the most. I have sent 3 different families to this particular store and they've all bought cars. Now I'm going to look like an idiot if their cars break down. I wouldn't buy another car from them if they paid ME to drive it!!!!

One Question

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

WHY did you buy a "junk car for tons more than what it's worth"? Man I get tired of reading these posts. They go to these rip off dealers cause their credit sucks. They buy these junk cars cause they don't get 'em checked out BEFORE they buy and they pay out the butt cause they don't check out what the real value is BEFORE they commit to paying way too much money. To top it off, she's sent THREE other "unfortunates" to the same dealer for the same "great deal" she has gotten. Lord help them.

Amanda,

Although we all know JDB is a total ripoff and should be avoided, nobody forced you to buy a car from them. You chose to do it on your own. There is a reason you are shopping there in the first place.

Whenever buying a used car, the very first thing to do is check it out thoroughly. If you do not know enough about cars to do this, take someone with you that does.

Then, if you do buy it, immediately change all fluids/filters as you do not know the last time it was done or what was put in it. Use only premium products like synthetic oils, etc. Now you have a starting point on your maintenence.

This service would include a transmission service with a filter and fluid change, which may have saved your transmission.

It is smarter to just buy a used vehicle from a private party for like $1000- $2000 which would be better than anything on JDB's lot! Most of their cars come from auctions.
