I purchased a used vehicle from Power Ford On Frank Lloyd Wright In North Scottsdale, In the first week of August 2007 Before I purchased it, I told the salesman that I don't want my credit report ran until I know how much the vehicle was going to run me per month. I said, the reason is, I'm going to be doing a refinance on my home in a few months, and I don't want the inquires on my credit report unless I decide to buy. I have been working on my credit to higher my score, I also asked this question: How many inquires will be placed on my credit if I decide to buy?

He said the credit manager told him it will only be one soft inquire. I said ok, and then asked the credit agent at the dealer the same question.

Again I got the same answer, which is: There will only be one soft hit on your credit.

I agreed to let him run my credit. I am a member of freecreditreport.com, When I got home from work today, I received an email from freecreditreport.com
saying there have been changes made to my report. When I logged in, There were 5 new hard inquires on my report.
I was, and I still am, fuming mad! I called the dealer and spoke to the credit manager, and told her what was said to me before I purchased the vehicle.

I then said, your people outright lied to me to make the sale, and something needs to be done. Of course she said nothing can be done that the vehicle was already
picked up and financed. She also told me, once the vehicle is sold and financed, I'm a closed book!
This is just not right, I was lied to by which I thought was a great dealership, I'm not letting this go, they need to do something to make this right.

The usual strategy is to buy a "new" car AFTER you finance [or refinance] a house. The house mortgage folk will baulk when they see an auto loan & they will add the auto payments to your "debt", used to calculate your "debt to income ratio". On the other hand, the auto finance companies don't care so much about your mortgage.

I think the five credit inquiries on one auto sale should count as one inquiry if you actually bought the auto. If you didn't buy the auto then the 5 inquiries become 5 rejections...
