I had applied for some auto loans online. I don't have the greatest credit and am trying to get a second chance. I was contacted by Mr. Gary at Auto Express.

He said I had already been approved for a loan to come on down. I asked him how much I needed as a down payment since I don't have good credit. Mr. Gary told me that if I brought him $1500.00 down that he would put me into a 4 wheel drive automatic SUV or extended cab pickup.

He stated to me that he was the credit manager and that he made the decisions. I told him that it would take me a few weeks to get the money together and I would let him know when I had it.

Mr. Gary called me a week or so later asking when I was coming in. I told him I didn't have the money yet. Mr. Gary asked me how much I had. I told him I had only 350.00. He told me to come on in and he could put me in the SUV or truck I wanted.

I didn't get there right away because my mother is dying of cancer and I had to go to NC to see her.

I contacted Auto Express when I came back. I called and asked to speak to Mr. Gary. They told me he was not there and that Bill would help me. Bill asked me to refill out the applications and I drove down to Fredericksburg to get them (over 30 miles).

When I got there they told me that Mr. Gary no longer worked there. He was never the credit manager or anything.

I filled out the applications and faxed them back to Bill along with drivers' licenses, paystubs, etc. . I told him I was interested in one of the 2 Ford Explorers he had on the lot (2002--one green -one white).

He called me later that night (6/18/04) and told me that I would have to have $1500.00 down. Bill told me that if I got half the money (750.00) and would sign a paper saying that I would have the remainder (750.00) within a certain number of days that they would go ahead and slae me one of the Explorers.

I asked Bill if he was positive that if I got the 750.00 if he would get me in the car and he said he would. My sister was sitting there when I asked this.

The following morning (6/19/04) I called a co-worker to borrow the money because I really need a car to see my mom. She has less than 2 weeks to live and I need reliable transportation to get there. It is 8 hours a way.

I contacted Bill and told him that I had someone to give me the money but I would like to know how many days I had to get him the reminder of the money. He said he would talk to the credit manager, Don, and would get back to me.

When I called back he told me that now I had to have the whole 1500.00 not the half. I asked what had happened and he told me that was what Don had told him.

I asked to speak to Don and he told me that he was sorry but the bank wouldn't let him do that. I asked Don why I was jerked around. I told him about Mr. Gary lying and now Bill. He said he didn't think anyone was lying. I told him what Bill had said at 7:00 the night before.

His response was just I'm sorry. I asked to speak to Bill again and he apologized and told me that he knew that was what he had told me. At this point, I was crying and all upset. He just said that he was told okay the night before and then changed this morning.

I asked Don to speak with his supervisor but he said he was the supervisor and would not let me have anyone else's name.

I don't mind if someone doesn't want to sell me a car due to my credit history but to get me all set up and then to say sorry is unforgiveable. I had already called my mother and told her that I was getting the car and would be down later in the weekend. Am I supposed to tell her sorry?
