They are doing the exact same thing to me! I feel your pain. (literally) They reneged on their coverage of the person who hit me. And now im left holding the bag. Too bad your mom took the initial offer. They offered me the same pathetic 20k and i told them NO WAY! my bills are way more than that, not they are denying the claim altogether....after they paid for my vehicle being totaled, laptop repairs, rental car, etc etc. They are morons but i am not letting them get away with it. what did you do to fight them??? are you thru or still in the process of a battle with these clowns?

You must realize that the primary job of any insurance adjuster for ANY company is to get to the lowest settlement amount as possible. It is up to you (mother or son) to look at the policy in hand and review the limits of your policy.  Never settle for first offers. Contact YOUR attorney first hand and I guarantee you will get the full amount you are entitled to. I know this is probably to little to late ,but keep this in mind for future use, hopefully not needed.

There are a quite a few things I want to mention.

1. Learn how to spell. It was quite painful reading your posts.

2. You have alleged that the driver caused the accident on purpose. You supported the allegation that this driver purposefully caused this accident because he could not see your mother coming. I think they call car accidents an accident for a reason. You are using the word purpose to describe intention. You cannot prove specific intention of doing something without a motive and knowledge to an act occurring prior to occurring. If the driver could not see your mother coming he has no knowledge that his act of pulling out is going to cause an accident. It is impossible to assume or discern that the accident was purposeful so logically it is safe to assume it was an accident. The driver is still liable regardless of intention.

3. The Insurance company of the at-fault driver (Auto Owners) only has to cover what is stated in the liability portion in the policy and for what the at-fault driver is legally supported to be liable for. The role of the insurance company in this matter is to indemnify your mother within the limits of the insurance contract and anything beyond the limits would become the responsibility of the driver. The insurance company did what was right in this situation. They provided financial compensation to your mother for the loss of the vehicle and medical bills, up to the limits outlined in the insurance contract.

4. The insurance company went above and beyond what they are required to do when they offered your mother a $20,000 settlement for "alleged" pain and suffering. They could have ignored your mother completely as they have already fulfilled what was required by law in indemnifying your mother. If your mother wanted money for pain and suffering it her responsibility to legally prove that the accident has caused pain and suffering and that the driver insured by Auto Owners is liable.

5. If she accepted the settlement she is bound by the legal agreement within the settlement unless she can prove that Auto Owners made false, misleading, or fraudulent statements.

6. Auto Owners telling your mother that she can either accepts the $20,000 settlement or walk away with nothing is not a false, misleading, or fraudulent statement. It was their offer to settle the case without legal proof of further liability.

7. Your mother should have counter-offered with the amount she felt was fair and if she did not get it she would sue both Auto Owners and the at-fault driver.

I know of someone who beleives Auto-Owners defrauded them too.  These guys are terrible and will do anything to maximize profits.  They will even break the law!  Please update us on what's new so we can make this reach #1 on google so they can't ignore us much longer!

I just would like to know why terrible things happen to us!.

If this driver had killed my mother I would have sued her or cause them to be in dept. I just have fear about the other bad drivers In phenix city & columbus.

Insurance companies should be held accountable for there insureds actions & pay a fair settleing to cover everything but there not!.

There insured driver took away the thing that was most valueable my vehicle because auto owners would not settle quick.

I don't care If people don't believe me, I think this old bat should lose her license for causing this bad of accident & how she ruined my mothers life & mine.

My mother had got a new job & lost It 8 months later the vehicle got repoed.

I don't care anymore about the vehicle getting repossed because auto owners took there time settleing!. They are many unpaid bills & medical bills we are already ruined because of this driver.

My mother would end up probally being sued & treated unfairly, will lose the house & everything we have. Its amazing how 1 accident can completely change you life!.

Things where getting strait & this woman driver from auto owners had to ruin my dreams! & took away my favorite vehicle after waiting so many years for & this had to happen!.

I just hope this old bag doesn't kill someone or cause there family to be In dept because of her negligence.

I will never have another truck again that my mother was going to give me later this old bat ruined my dreams, she should not be driving!.

I will never again have a ford truck because of this old bat!. She ruined everything!, no It Is not ok to ruin someone elses life!.

I blame the other driver what was going on In this old womans mind to pull out infront of on coming traffic traveling @ 45mhp. But thank god there was a withness to say It was her fault.

Well the old bat had no right to pull out & look @ all the financial problems & mental stress she caused, but does she care no. And we have to put up with auto owners not wanting to pay a fair settlement.

This accident caused my mother to lose her job my mother just got straiten out financially & this old bat had to cause this bad accident for no reason.

But does the other driver care about the financial problems she caused no she does not & the medical bills she caused. She wouldn't even get out of the car to see If my mother was all right.

Know look @ all these problems this old bat caused us sense then. And auto owners didn't pay enough to cover everything & this Is not far. The old bat gets to go on living not worrying about financial problems.

She should had been arrested because this was a crime I believe she done It on purpose out of meaness. Any normal person would know better then to put out in on comming traffic.

She gets to go on living her life with no financial problems or worrying about medical bills or worrying about her car being repoed. She took alot away.

I guess its ok for other drivers to screw up your life, & for there insurace company & cause you to lose your job & your vehicle, & not pay full restitution & your pain & suffering.


The other driver was not a bit concered & my mother said she didn't even get out of the vehicle. There was also something very strange why the other driver refused help.

Purhaps the other driver was on drugs or on something for them to cause the bad accident & pull out infront of oncoming traffic.


Because no normal person would do something so dangerous has to pull out when cars are coming. There was a (withness) to the accident saying the driver pulled out in my mothers path.

I know there is nothing that can be done know. I am writing this report to warn others about how unfair auto owners was, they told my mother there insured was covered for only $20,000.

So my mother settled for $20,000, then my mother found out there insured policy limit was for $100,000. Insurance companies do not want to pay you the money you deserve for all the damanges you suffered from there insured.

Even if it is there fault they still refuse to give you the money you deserve. Insurance companies cheat everybody out of there money. I am just warning people if they ever have to deal with auto owners do not let them make you settle for any amount.

I am using this situation to help other people in the future, get a lawyer & take them to court.


The insurance commissioners office said my mother can still take them to court it hasn't been the full 2 years sense the accident.

Your mother made a choice. She could accept the $20000 that they offered or she could have hired an attorney and sued for more. If she had a decent case for lost wages, pain, suffering and such she would have had no trouble finding an attorney to handle the case.

Your mother chose to accept the $20,000.

If you don't like it, take it up with your mother.

Everything I have complained about happend, there insured policy limit was $100,000 & auto owners refused to release it, auto owners made my mother to believe $20,000 was only there insured was covered.


So my mother settled for $20,000 then after she settled she found out from her insurance company auto owners insured released there isured policy limit was covered for $100,000. So this is proof right here auto owners defrauded.

They also have it in the release form my mother sign releaseing them & there insured was not covered for $100,000 & that was all auto owners could give was $20,000. My mother was lucky to get any money but they could have given more then $20,000 for all the pain & suffering & job loss.

But auto owners like with most insurance companies don't care about your pain & suffering its ok for them to screw with peoples lives, insurance companies do this to everybody even if it is there insured fault.

This isn't fair laws need to be changed if a person caused u problems & damanges from an accident there insurance company should pay you, for all your medical bills & all your pain & suffering & stress they have caused you for no reason.

But sadly insurance companies do not care about people, if the accident caused them to lose there job or if they can't pay for there house or there car & wind up losing everything due to there insured causing them these damanges.

Something needs to be done to prevent unfairness from insurance companies.

You're certainly right about one thing.

Insurance companies do not care about your mothers alleged pain and suffering. They just care what their insureds policy says. If they have satisfied that policy, they are done.

From the little time I have been reading these entertaining posts, you and your mother have a history of this sort of thing so I'm not even sure that what you are writing here accurately represents what actually happened.

Auto owners forced my mother to settle for $20,000 they would not go any higher, all insurance defraud people out of fair settlements. Auto owners would not release there insured policy information to show how much they where insured for.


My mother contacted the main office they say the where suppose to release that information the driver was insured for $100,000 auto owners did not want to give a fair settlement this was not enough for all the pain & suffering.


Auto owners told my mother if she did not accept the $20,000 she would get no money so she as forced to settle for that amount, know after the complaint is made the deparment of insurance there story has changed.


The manager of auto owners stated they would be glad to give that information but know is to late after everything had been settled, after how bad this accident was & how wreckless there insured driver was they once again cheated another person out of a fair settlement.

It caused my mother to lose her job & financial problems, but there insured can go on living not caring all the problems they have caused us & financial problems.

Auto owners was not fair there insured caused all these problems, & financial problems they should have been glad to offer more then $20,000 for the our troubles there insured caused.


But that is one of many injustices in america today. You don't get full reimbursement when someone else messes up your life in a car accident. Insurance companies refuses to pay you for a full & fair reimburesment from the money you have lost from your job.


And all the pain & suffering & undue stress auto owners caused us for no reason.

Auto owners will pay for there actions one day, for defrauding out of a fair settlement.

I don't know what there insured thought to pull out infront of on coming traffic is beyond me, the driver was 60 years old. But thank god there was a withness to the accident that saw the other driver pull out infront of my mother.

The police said auto owners insured was the cause of the accident for failure to yeild, its beyond me why anyone would pull out infront of on coming traffice.


Auto owners will pay one day has with other insurance companies who treat people unfairly when there insured causes all these problems & you injuries.

At least auto owners driver could not deny out of these sense there was a withness. How could anyone be so stupid to pull out infront of traffic.


Well auto owners will pay for there lies & defrauding out of a fair settlement. Auto owners only paid $5,000 of my mothers medical bills & her insurance paid $5,000.

But after this bad accident auto owners should have to pay $50,000 or above for the distress & loss of job, loss of pay, & all medical bills plus pain & suffering, & all the other damanges auto owners insured has caused us.


All insurance companies care about is how much money they can try to keep from paying you, from all the damanges there insured has caused us.


Insurance companies are crooked & corrupted.

This driver needs to pay for there actions they cannot go hitting people when they please, they made my mother lose her vehicle. Well I hope one day this idiot driver loses something valueable of theres.

I hope there credit is ruined I hope there insurance is cancelled, you just don't do this to someone & accept them to get away with it.

I would like to update this complaint, my mother talked to a lawyer & they are looking into auto owner's. The lawyer also agreed they commited fraud to keep from paying my mother a fair settlemet.

My mother can sue the other driver for her medical bill's which she can't pay & for my mother losing her job there was also a (withness) to the accident so the other driver could not lie & saying it was not there fault.

My mother was coming home from work that day there was $3,300 damange caused to the front end of the vehicle auto owner's also paid for the repair's but they did not give enough money for my mother's pain & suffering.

I to had to suffer in this my mother lost her job because of this idiot who just had to pull out infront of my mother, 8 month's later my mother's vehicle got repossed.

Auto owner's should still be sued & the other driver who caused all this miss & pain & suffering the police found auto owner's insurance guilty of the accident, & issued them a ticket for failure to yeild.

The (withness) also gave there statement to the police saying they say the other driver not stopping & waiting for my mother to clear.
