I was also ripped off by Firestone. I took my car to them because when I was leaving work the day before I put my car in reverse and it made a dry clunk.

I drove my car home and put transmission fluid in it. The next morning I took my car to Firestone and told them the problem. After about half an hour or so they came out and told me that the transmission was fine but that there was a small leak.

They said that the noise was caused by broken motor mounts. They said that they would have it fixed by that evening, so I got a ride to work and left the car.

When I went back that evening they were still working on it and said that it would be about another half hour or so. They also put a new gasket on the transmission pan and did a transmission flush. When they finally pulled my car around front they said that everything was fine.

I started my car up and put it in reverse my car didn't just make a dry clunk, it shook the whole car. I drove it home and called them the next day and told them about the noise. They told me to bring it back and they would check it out.

I took my car back to Firestone that evening after work and was told that the motor mounts had broken. I asked the manager how that could be since they had just replaced them. He said that it was their fault because they had over tightened the bolts and had broken them. He said to bring the car in the morning and they would take care of it at no charge.

So the next morning I dropped the car off and got a ride to work. When I went back that evening they were still working on my car. About 30 minutes later they pulled my car around front and said that it was as good as new.

Well, I don't think they know what a new car is supposed to sound like because when I started the car up it sounded like an airplane and when I put the car in reverse the whole car shuddered like the motor was just going to drop out.

I drove my car across the parking lot, stopped and got out. I went back inside and told them that my car was not right and that I was going to be back in the morning. I told them they were either going to fix it right or refund my money. They had charged me $685.28 and my car sounded like a piece of junk.

The next morning I took my car back to them and after about 2 hours they came out and said that they couldn't fix my car and were going to refund my money. That part of it was okay, but my problem is that while in the process of tearing up my motor mounts they messed up the idle on my car.

When I left Firestone that morning I had to take my car to another garage to repair the idle that Firestone messed up. When I first took my car to Firestone my car idled at regular rpms. When I left Firestone my car idled at over 1500 rpms.

It cost me $384.00 to get the idle fixed on my car, but my car still does not run right. Before this happened my car run like a top now I'm afraid to drive it. I had to purchase another car.

I filed a complaint with the BBB to try and recover some of my expenses on getting the idle repaired and on a rental car that I had to get and to pay half of what I had to spend on getting another car.

Well, so much for that, Firestone offered me a $25.oo store credit like I would ever go back to them for anything. Of course I refused it. Then in good faith the BBB closed my case.

I went to the court house to see about filing a civil suit against them, but because Firestone is such a big company I would have to find out where Headquarters are located and who exactly would be served.

Firestone settles dispute

AUTHOR: Sheryl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 08, 2006

Firestone finally agreed to pay for the extended repairs done to my car after leaving their service center. This was after I talked to a lawyer and threatened to take them to court.
