As the dealer warranty on the new truck reached its expiration, I was inundated by mail offers for extended warranties.  One flier/advertisement stood out; that from DP:Dealer Processing.  It sported the Better Business Bureau member seal.  I called and spoke with a pleasant person.  It turned out he was only a sales rep fronting for ASCS.  He made promises that were not to be honored in the contract.

When the actual contract arrived I scanned it.  It wasn't long and basically listed not what was covered but what wasn't covered.  I tucked the policy into the glove compartment for the time when it might be needed.  The time came.  The truck was taken to my mechanic.  He pulled out the warranty booklet and gave it to the service writer/manager to call in the service needed.  Service was declined!

It was then I learned, buried in a list of not covered items was the statement that seals, gaskets, bushings, and engine parts with seals, gaskets, bushings are not covered!  Water pumps, power steering pumps, anything with a gasket or seal is not covered.  My power steering pump was leaking. My mechanic said it appeared an internal bearing had gone, damaged the gasket and was leaking.  ASCS said it wasn't covered because it had a gasket and therefore was my responsibility to repair and maintain.

Upon closer scrutiny of the "policy" with my mechanic, it was determined that the policy didn't cover anything to speak of---at least not $3000 worth!  I requested cancellation of the policy.  No claims were ever paid.  I received barely a third of the purchase price!  When I called to ask how they determined the cancellation return, I was told "figures were punched into a machine and the machine dictated how much to send the customer."

As far as I am concerned this company should be boycotted and the sales company definitely removed from the BBB!  I believe their practices were highly unethical and borderline robbery.

another robbed victim of a.c.s.c.

AUTHOR: DAVID - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, June 30, 2011

I wonder what color of panties those ex employees of gold key wear? What a bunch of little sorry low life nothings. Gold Key denied my claim two months ago with some lying made up crap that is not in the contract. I cancelled and now I am getting the same run around bull crap lies about my refund. They owe me all of my money back because they defaulted on the contract. They also owe me ten percent on top of that. I never signed a contract, either. All I can say is,I am unemployeed,I am fed up,I want MY MONEY BACK YESTERDAY, or reap what you deserve.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

This customer is absolutely correct!

AUTHOR: Former Claims Manager - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, September 25, 2010

I am an ex-employee of ACSC, very well versed and experienced in automotive mechanics and Extended Warranty Provider Operations, Policies & Procedures...who was fired for approving a customer's claim that was rightfully warranted.  This report is exactly correct! I can tell you exactly what kind of Warranty Contract the author of this report had.  It is what ACSC considers to be their "new car" contract.  This contract is identified with letters and numbers.  The "N" in the contract # GKPN indicates a Gold Key Protection - "New Car" contract and also carries the higher sales price!  If this contract was actually administered with integrity and professional business ethics, it would indeed be a very good "aftermarket" warranty.  HOWEVER, ACSC looks for any and every reason to deny claims.  There is a clause under the section "What Is Not Covered" that states "hoses and rubber parts".  This contract and its context was NOT written to imply anything and everything made of rubber. In the context it was written, AND applying simple rules of grammar, it simply implies rubber hoses, vacuum lines, grommets, etc. (If you knew ANYTHING about automotive mechanics at all, you would "know" this.  This further shows the ignorance and severe lack of automotive mechanics knowledge by the ACSC staff)... BUT, ACSC takes this clause and tries to apply it to absolutely EVERYTHING that is made of rubber! They have completely taken a very simple exclusion...ignored the rules of grammar... and have made it a "catch-all" for any rubber part, in particular Seals & Gaskets that frequently fail and are needed on many automotive applications.  Therefore, they have taken their most Premium and Expensive Contract and have severely limited it and its coverage by excluding parts that were intended to be paid all along!  Here's a question for all the ACSC customers who have paid the high premiums for the "New Car" contract: Would it make you upset to know that ACSC sells a lesser contract, with much less coverage, for substantially less premiums AND guess what?  Those contracts COVER SEALS & GASKETS (RUBBER PARTS!!!) Yeh, thats something ACSC wont tell you! nor should they be conducting business like this to begin with! its WRONG and UNETHICAL! When it comes to paying out claims with honesty and integrity...ACSC fails miserably! And when it comes to trying to cancel your contract... you will get the BIGGEST RUNAROUND of your life!  I fully support and confirm the original statement of the writer of this report: "...I believe their practices were highly unethical and borderline robbery".  YES, indeed I agree!  I will back and confirm, firsthand, the unethical practices of this company and I will support any attorney and/or customer who has been wrongfully denied.
