Buyers Beware! Autosave is a big scam!!

We bought an extended warranty that was worthless, autosave will not pay for repairs needed. Repairs are covered under warranty! We have several certified mechanics to verify this.

Last July my daughter was getting ready for collage, she was leaving Illinois and traveling to Arizona. Right before she was to leave we went looking for a safe and reliable vehicle for her. After a couple of months of looking we decided on a 1998 dodge ram truck.
from:Gina's Auto Sales, MONEE,ILLINOIS.

What sold us was that the dealership And pamphlet states:
(Autosave is the leading engine & transmission product warranty supplier in the U.S. and Canada.

With autosave should you have an engine, transmission or water pump problem, help is only a phone call away!
Simply take your vehicle to an Ase-certified repair facility of your choice for repairs.

Autosave claims dept. will work directly with that repair facility-wheather at home or on the road-to pay for repairs so you can get back to where ypo're going fast!

Autosave is backed by the largest underwriter of warranties in the world!

You made a good choice buying from our 5 year/100,000 mile engine, transmission product warranty to your vehicle, enjoy many carefree miles ahead!
What abounch of bull!)

Was told our concern about our daughter being so far from home and that we would like to send her away in a dependable vehicle.

They showed us the truck which they said is in very good condition and said this would be the most reliable vehicle for her they also stated that for an extra 1,500 dollars we could buy an extended warranty, Five years/100,000 miles engine & transmission from autosave they highly recommended autosave and told us how no matter what happens, our daughter would be in very good hands seeing we were worried about her being so far away from home.

So we purchased the truck along with the extended warranty, it took a big bite out of our finances but you cant put a price on your daughters well being.
Our daughter finished her first part of schooling in Arizona this may and left out for Oregon to continue her second half. She left Arizona on a Monday evening making her way to California.

A couple of hours on the road she pulled over to get gas and some snacks in Bythe, California. When she got back in her truck to continue her trip she notice the truck wasn't driving right so she pulled over in the middle of no where late at night and called us. When she explained to my husband the way her vehicle was acting he advised her to stay put and have her truck towed to the nearest town. Once there we had the truck looked at by a goodyear service center.

I faxed them the warranty and they said its a covered part but autosave is saying its not covered. autosave will not standby what they sold us, my daughter is now 2,100 miles away stuck in a strange town since 5-23-06 waiting for her truck. they refuse to help. Giving us the run around.

If anyone has any info that we might be able to use please let me know.

Meanwhile i have reported them to nbc-5 investigating team, BBB & ILLINOIS ATTORNEY GENERAL

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!

Slime!!!!!!

AUTHOR: Wally - (Australia)

Water pouring out of the exhaust and slime oozing out of your mouth Bob. How the heck does a layman get coverage on a vehicle when your favourite phrase is "non covered event" Give them the insurance money back and I mean the total $1500 because they were conned into believing they would be covered in the event of engine failure. The young lady pulled over as soon as she realised there was a problem. From the first phone call to your company the spin doctoring started and you squirmed your way out of another one.

These are decent, honest people dealing with a lowlife car sales company and an even worse warranty company. Hang your head in shame.

Actual facts that occured in regard to this vehicle

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 07, 2006

An actual chain of events for this vehicle's claim are listed below, the actual reasons for denial were not mentioned originally and are here for review.

The person who was driving the vehicle called us on 5/23/2006 1:04 pm (R)- Customer states headgaskets are blown. States the engine overheated and was smoking. Advised have shop call us. Call recorded.

Then a few minutes later @
5/23/2006 1:21 pm (R)- Shop called with more info. They performed a block test and found the headgaskets failed. Call recorded.

Then a few minutes later @
5/23/2006 1:30 pm (R)- Informed the customer this is not a covered repair. Blown Headgaskets non-covered failure= engine overheating. Call recorded.

Then the next day @
5-24-2006 LM For customer -suggested that they read warranty paperwork in sections that pertain to blown headgasket. Call recorded.

The customer and here parents had been relentless in the fact that this should have been a covered repair. As per the repair facility the vehicle was brought into the facility with no antifreeze or water of any kind in the radiator, etc.

On 6-6-2006 an independant inspector was sent out to inspect the vehicle as well as take pictures for documentation purposes of the vehicles non-covered failure(s).Documentation is required when consumers makes over the top statements.

Upon arrival at the facility the inspector was informed by the tech that the pick-up truck in question had been towing an 19' u-haul trailer through the desert (moving) at a time when the temperature was in excess of 110 F on departure from Phoenix, AZ. Pictures of the freshly installed u-haul trailer hitch and wiring harness were provided at this time.

Upon further inspection the #6 piston was eaten away at the lower & rear sections of the top of piston, the cylinder head was warped over .007 and both valves seats in cylinder #6 are cracked as well as that portion of the head in that cylinder.

The tech stated that water was running out of the muffler when brought into the facility. The water pump was operational at that time no leaks.

The tech states that the cause of faiure is" THE FAN CLUTCH WAS FOUND TO BE FREE-WHEELING AND NOT ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE".

The engine's sole source of cooling the " RADIATOR FAN ASSEMBLY WAS FOUNG TO BE DEFECTIVE BY THE REPAIR FACILITY.

The Cause of the failure is a non-covered part the fan clutch. The warranty is a powertrain warranty only and does not cover anything but the internally lubricated parts of the engine, transmission subsequent damage from non-covered parts is a non-covered event. The fan cluth assm is not listed as a covered part on their warranty form.

The repair facility signed the inspection report on June 6, 2006 and agreed that the part that they found "the fan/clutch assembly" was the root cause of overheating failure. This document was made part of our file.

In any warranty companys wording, items such as ; vehicles driven to destruction, failure to prevent further damage from occuring, overheating, blown head gaskets are clearly listed as reasons for a claim denial.Dodge would have not covered a vehicle this severly overheated under these conditions.

The consumer/parents etc were informed on numerous occasions that the root cause of the problem was a non-covered component as discovered by their repair facility and further documented by a written an signed report.

We do have empathy for the consumer, our job as the Administrator is to see if a covered component caused the failure of the vehicle.

The claim has been denied as a non-covered component and furthermore with the blown headgasket(s) as well as the cracked cylinder head and seats and water coming out of the muffler clearly indiscates that this vehilce was operated under abnormal operating conditions that were caused solely by the actions of the individual(s) that were operating the vehicle and these actions would cause a claim to be sudsequently non-covered based on their actions.

Thank you,
Robert Adams
