I rented a car over the phone with Avis.  I called the 800 and spoke to a representative.  I specifically told her I did not want any extra fees tacked on to the fees.  It was quoted to me on the internet $94.14 for the total charges.  That is what I agreed to pay.  I used a code for USAA FSB customers to get the price to this amount for less than four days.  I used the car for less than 55 hours and put less than 200 miles on it during the duration of my stay in Kansas City.

I returned the car, only to find out I had been charged an additional $47.96 for "loss damage waiver". I never authorized this charge.  I even told the African American guy at the counter that I had private insurance that would cover me and stated USAA.com.  He knew this.  I'll admit it was late at night when I rented the car.  However, my girlfriend was right there and heard me tell him that I didn't want anything else added to the pre-paid charges.  It says on my paperwork that I authorized the charges, but in fact I did NOT authorize the charges.

I called customer service and they are telling me that I have to pay these charges and they aren't refunding my money.  This is totally unfair as my witness will also say the same thing I have said about declining all extra charges.  It's a total RipOff!

Your in a tough, unfortunate and all to common situation. Airport agents, regaurdless of company are notorious for making charges appear on your contract. Once you sign the contract its at the discretion of the company to adheare to your request to remove the charges. More so, anyone in your party wouldnt be considered in a postion of trust. In the rental world, customers tend to "bait and switch" what they say just as much, which ruins the trust the should exist. To clear any misunderstanding, I am on your side.

If you did not agree then you were taken advantage of. Your best chance for compromise or solution is as follows... 1) Stay patient no matter what. We as agents get yelled at by customers in situations like this, not all agents have the adaptive skills to properly handle this and act accordingly. 2) Explain that this situation and what happened. 3) File a complaint at the same time towards both the agent and customer service. We want our agents to be accountable, but corporate cant remedy these agents without knowing who they are.
