I rent a car from Avis car rental at 4841 Yonge St Toronto for one day. When I returned the car to the office, I head-in parked the car into a parking spot, and checked the car with the guy who works there.

We both didn't find any scratches at that time. Then I asked him if anything is fine and if I can leave and his answer was yes. He never mention that I should return to the office so I just left the place.

after that the office called me and told me that I scratched the car. I went back to the car with my friend and found there were scratches on the rear door of the car.

It is such a common sense that it is impossible to scratch the rear door of the car if you head-in park it. It also don't make sense that the guy didn't find the scratch when I was there but found it after I left. Obviously someone moved the car and scratched the car.

My credit card has collision damage insurance but I still refused to fill in the damage report because this is such an obvious fraud and I won't let the scam win. I took pictures of the car and then I left.

After few months they sent me a damage claim comes with a $1000+ bill which shocked me because I don't believe this scratch would cost such a huge repairing fees.

What is more, before I received the claim, My credit card company called me and told me they tracked someone duplicated my credit card and tried to use it. they told me that thing could happened if someone had my detailed credit card information and personal information. So I seriously doubt that someone in the brand office of Avis car rental was trying to steal my credit card.

After that all my friends told me this company must be a scam so I neglected all the calls from Avis until they sent the case to collection company. I asked the company to send me a specific document about the whole case and they did.

Then I found few pictures of the car that the body shop took. the scratches showed on pictures did not even exist when I checked the car. I have taken pictures when my friend and I went back to the parking lot to check the car. It is obviously someone use some sharp things to scratch the rear door. 

This is a total fraud and I am so angry about it. The whole thing is so ridiculous and I will never rent a car from such a company and I hope you won't do the stupid thing as what I did.

This location is run by fraud artists, who try to make fraudulent claims and think they can get away.  Here is my experience..

Avis (Location: T4A at Yonge and Sheppard) tries to illegaly charge for fuel surcharges even though the vehicle was brought back at the same level, and when confronted he would not provide the original charge made to the card and also would not look at the initial pick up slip which showed the fuel level at pick up.  I had pictures to proof what the gas level was at at drop off and documents showing what the gas level was at pick up.

The issue was finally resolved after calling the customer service line, and they were quite helpful in resolving the matter and reversed the illegal charges made by this location.  Kudos to the AVIS Customer Service line.  The corporation should place stricter regulations on the franchises who try to scam customers in this manner.  This is borderline fraud and is not acceptable in any retail business.
