In November of 2002, I became an Avon Representative. My first order was for over $400 and was supposed to be shipped in 5 boxes. I did not receive my shipment for over a week past the scheduled time. I made several long distance calls to the company to check on it. (The company doesn't offer toll-free service to reps but only to directors, and there is a waiting time of 15 minutes on hold.)

When my first order came in, there were only two of the five boxes to it, and one box was damaged, neither was filled, but only had a few products in it. Back to the phone and hold, hold, hold. Avon told me they would reship the order.

I waited and waited and called and called. It was now time to email my next order. I did it hesitantly. This order was small (intentionally) and, since I was still waiting on the first order, which was guaranteed shipped, I waited on the second order. I never did receive the remainder of the first order (Morton Grove computers apparently were down for 3 days) and only one, partial box of the second order.

I again called and called and did receive billing on the total amounts. I emailed and emailed and in January, Avon made a partial adjustment on my account but not a correct adjustment. I continued to try to call and was continued to be billed incorrectly.

Around February I was threatened with collection and could no longer access my account through Avon's website. I again tried to call and started writing letters. Avon then turned my account over to Allied Collections, so Avon refuses to acknowledge any of my correspondence. (I have been harassed by them and made verbal requests they not call. They informed me they can call everyday if they want. I have now sent a written request with the website re:collection laws.)

I mailed several letters to Avon to try to rectify this but they have been ignored. The collection agency wants the money, even the partial amount I believe I owe, but they will not quit harassing me, nor will they sign a type of contract stating the amount I agree to pay will satisfy the account.

Problems have been rectified

AUTHOR: Kris - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 02, 2005

Regarding the long hold times, etc. Avon has rectified this problem. Now when you call, if there is a long hold time, you have an option to be called back. You dont have to wait on hold, long distance for ever.

Also, Avon does provide an 800# to reps who are serious about their business. If you achieve Presidents Club sales level or above, you are given an 800# to call Customer Service. After all, isnt this fair. Why should they pay for reps who only sell $25 a campaign to call them, that 800# SHOULD be reserved for those who are making money (for themselved and Avon). Afterall if you opened your own business and you had to call your customers, would they accept your collect call? Would they gladly pay for YOUR phone call? I dont think so. The same for business supplies. If you own a Burger King, the company who makes your cups and bags ain't giving them away! You have to buy them. Trust me, you arent going to get them as cheap as Avon sells them to you for either!

Did you know you can also email Avon or call on your cell phone, to avoid long distance charges?

I love Avon. Granted, they're not perfect. Is any large corporation? Any time I've been billed for a product and not received it or have been charged the incorrect amount. I've called or emailed and Avon has either shipped me out a new item, no charge or they have given me a price adjustment. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

Avon has nice stuff, but..................................

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 18, 2005

Avon is one of the worse companies to be involved with. After being a rep for sometime. I had an over due balance. Which is my fault. Avon sent me to collections. So, when the collection agency sent me a letter saying I needed to pay $180.00 we talked the collection agency into only paying $100.00. That was our settlement. I could not afford to apy more. I paid with a credit card. Received confirmation and thought everything was fine. Then three years later I receive another letter saying I owe the remaining $80.00. to the collection agency. We called them back and they said they made a mistake, no one had documented the settlement we agreed upon. Then a month later. I receive a different letter from a different colelction agency stating I need to pay my balance off of immediately of $80.00. I called this collection agency to tell them I already paid in full everything off. They said well contact Avon. I did this Avon collections. I left 4 messages in a 10 day span . No one got back to me ever. So, then I call the collection agency back and they claim everything is cleared and I owe nothing. I am still waiting for that collection letter to come again. If Avon is going to be sending you to collections. They should be able afford a toll free phone number to anwser questions about your account. People make mistakes and 99% I believe try and rectify there mistakes. Avon customer service are nasty and clueless. All I hear from them is I am just a customer service rep. I can't help you with that. Also, if they can afford to pay a movie star like Salma Hayek to model in there catolgues, they can certainly afford a free 1800 number. They should always give you keep at least 40% of your profits as well.

Acon and Allied Data Corporation

AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 18, 2004

My wife has had problems with Avon and I have been cleaning them up. In August Avon contacted my wife for a over due amount. She paid half of it over the phone and the rep for avon said that they would get in contact with her in September to collect the other half. At the end of September Allied Data Corporation contacted us. The rep, Nikki Burns, for ADC was extremly rude to my wife. So now they talk to me. We were told that we owed the total amount of just under 130 dollars. I explained what had happened in August and that we already paid half. The rep then told us that we had to send the other half western union and we also had to send proof that we paid the other half. The sounded fair so I went ahead and sent the western union, and a copy of my statement form the bank that clearly showed that Avon had deducted half of the money. A month goes by and Ms. Burns calls back. Avon is not satified that we paid the first half in August. So we go back to the bank and have our bank print of the transaction on their letter head and we sent that. Another month goes by and we get yet another call stating that we still owe the first half, Avon is not satisfied that we have paid and it is going onto the next step. Whatever this might be.....Now today, 12/18/04, we get another call. They left a message that they were making a decision regaurding our account on Monday. Thats 2 days from now. I called them back when we got home. Guess what, they closed at noon. So I checked my called ID. They called me 20 minutes after they closed. Now I can't get a hold of them until Monday. We have prrof that we paid. If this company wants to keep bullying the little guy, they have another thing coming. WHat a headache for 65 bucks. I can't believe it. They will be hearing from my attorney.

No problems with Avon

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 05, 2004

My wife has been an Avon rep for about a year now and we have had absolutely no problems with Avon! All of our orders arrive on time and almost always in full, once in awhile items are backordered and arrive later, no big deal. As for the long distance phone number to Customer Service, whats the big deal, all it takes is a few minutes on the phone, you leave your number and THEY CALL YOU BACK. Any time we have had a problem (ie. missing item, damaged item) Avon has been very responsive to correct the problem.

This is NOT a Lie...

AUTHOR: Kellee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 09, 2004

You must understand...just because you had a good experience, that does not mean everyone did! I was a Manager. I had orders coming in incorrectly in droves! I had reps complaining all of the time! I would call Avon and be ignored! At least I had an 800#. My reps didn't and yes-they were kept waiting LONG periods of time! I had reps lose hundreds of dollars! I finally got out, but lost money myself in the process! Avon is NOT credible and does NOT stand behind it's LOYAL EMPLOYEES! They should no longer exist!

THESE ARE LIES

AUTHOR: Salvatore - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 05, 2004

I'm shocked at the lies I'm reading here. Avon is a company that thrives on 100% representative and customer satisfaction. If a representative did not receive their order, Avon does not question them, they ship it out to them immediately. If a representative is missing part of their order, Avon does not question them, and sends out the items they are missing free of charge.

As far as collections goes, your wouldn't have been sent to collections unless your bill went unpaid for 22 weeks, more than enough time to get any problems straightened out. If you had to hold while getting through, tough. Where can you call and not wait to speak to a person?

They haven't changed in over 10 years...

AUTHOR: Cindy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 12, 2003

same old s**t, different day. I worked for them over 10 years ago, same problem. Sent me less than half of the over priced crap, and billed me for all of it. Never did receive all of the stuff, yet they wanted me to pay for it. Come to think of it, isn't that a scam in itself? Only send half, bill for all of it and loose a rep. Just replace with another rep down the road. Bill them and keep on collecting, they probably already had the other half of your sale in a box to someone else, and billed them for the whole order too.
