In October 2015 I received a letter in the mail regarding a free cruise.  I called the number and was told that if I attended the presentation I would win either $25,000, a cruise or a car.  No purchase necessary.  I only needed to attend that presentation and I was guaranteed to win one of these items.  I was skeptical but went to the presentation anyway.  The presentation was for a vacation club.  My husband and I declined to purchase the vacation club and left there with a certificate for a free cruise and a free 3 day/2 night luxury hotel stay.  In order to claim our prize we needed to send $50 back with each certificate and that money would be applied to taxes that would not be covered by the "free cruise and hotel".  I sent in 2 checks for $50 with the certificates and a few weeks later I recieved a package from the company with information on how to claim my prize.  I called the Away to Paradise Vacations several times because I had some questions and it took weeks to finally get a hold of someone.  I was told that the cruise was with Carnival Cruise line but that I could upgrade to another cruise line if I wanted to and only pay for the upgrade.  I need to pay an additional $50 to Hot Promotional Vacations to get my quote.  I did that in January.  I requested a quote for a Norwegian cruise in November going to the Bahamas.  After a few weeks I received a quote for a Carnival cruise and it was not free.  I then tried to contact Hot Promotional Vacations for a few weeks before finally getting a hold of someone and they sent me a link to resubmit my information and put specific dates.  I did that in late February/early March (I was very specific this time).

Then after not hearing from them for over 2 weeks, I sent an email demanding my new quote.  I received an email back stating that were using a new travel company and that I would get my quote within the next few days.  The quote I got was again for a Carnival cruise and again was not free.  Both quotes had us paying at least $600 per person.  At this point I contacted Hot Promotional Vacations again and asked for a refund.  They jerked me around for a few weeks but eventually refunded my $50.  Then I contacted Away to Paradise Vacations and asked to be refunded the orignal $100 I paid to them back in October.  It turns out the same people who work for Hot Promotional Vacations (Lyla and Charles Colvin) also work for Away to Paradise Vacations.  They refused to refund me becuase it has been past the 120 day refund policy.  I reported them to the Better Business Bureau.  The BBB tried to facilitate an agreement between us but I refuse to work with Away to Paradise any longer and the only resolution that will work for me is a refund.  The BBB has closed the case and I have not received a refund.
