Bally Total Fitness Deceptive, Dishonest business practices Wyncote Pennsylvania

I am a college student and I went home for a summer. I was coming out of walmart when I was approached by a worker of bally total fitness which is located only around the corner. I told him that I would only be here for the summer so I didnt want to get caught up in a contract.

He specifically told me that "We dont do contracts at anymore" he went on to explain how people didnt want to sign up for bally's because of the commitment and so forth. I gave them my debit card information and signed the paperwork that had something to do with not suing if I got hurt.

I said to the worker I thought you said you dont do contracts when he gave me something to sign, he began to tell me how that it was just an agreement that they would be taking the money off of my debit card, a monetary authorization. That authorization cost me 1021 dollars.

When it was time for me to leave to go back to school, I called ballys to let them know that I was canceling. They said that I couldnt cancel because my campus address was within 25 miles of a Ballys Club and unless I could provide a doctors note saying that I was physically unable to exercise that I couldnt cancel.

I was told initially that I could cancel when I went back to school . I was told initially "We dont do contracts". I was lied to and decieved.

After explaining this a million times to the people at the 800 number. I gave up. They sold my account to ASSETACCEPTANCE and it is on my credit report. So for my summer with bally's cost me 1021 dollars. THanks Ballys. Never again.
