On January 20, 2007 we dropped our dog off to have a dental cleaning. The quoted amount was $200 for everything. A couple of hours later they called us and said that they gave him a routine blood test and one of his readings was out of the range. I said ok, what are the implications?
They responded that they would not do the cleaning without an additional urine test for another $120. Not wanting to spend $320 for something I was quoted $200 for, and being suspicious that somehow this test miraculously was going to qualify him for the procedure I declined and said we would pick up the dog.
Upon arrival they presented a bill for $150. We refused to pay it because by their own admission it was padded (undiscounted). They were mad that we did not accept their terms, and so they created a bill for the blood test. Other charges like an office visit were included which is an utter scam.
We didn't bring the dog in for a check up, he had already had one where they suggested the dental cleaning. Furthermore, we never even approved or knew they were going to do the test. We didn't agree to do anything other than drop the dog off for a $200 cleaning.
Now they are threatening collections. I love the fact that despite not getting anything that we contracted them for we still are being threatened to pay an amount close to the full price of the original service. Shame on Banfield.

BTW, I tried to be reasonable and called them back when we received their collection letter, I was on hold for more than 15 minutes today. This is more than concern for our perfect credit, it is actually going to take more time to fight this ridiculous bill.
