April 28 2008 sent $2500 from Amtrust bank to new checking account at Bank of America via online transfer. Money was returned on May 5 as undeliverable. Called BoA they said account number was wrong. On May 5, I corrected account number which appeared correct and resent the payment.

Second time money was transferred After BoA told Amtrust routing number was wrong! Money never showed up in BoA account. I contacted BoA who said money was sent back to Amtrust where it never arrived.

Then began a 3 month run-around. BoA customer service is an impenatrable firewall preventing customers from reaching anyone with the authority to do anything. no less then 30 phone calls were answered by almost as many c. s. reps who each time treated it as a new issue, asked the same ?s and promised to "look into this matter" as "our customers satisfaction is our primary concern, we appoogize for any inconvenience this may have caused"

Meanwhile I was also trying to recover my funds from Amtrusts end where I was continually referred higher up the C. S. ladder. Amtrust was contacting BoA almost as often as I was with similar results.

With Amtrust reps I made several conference calls to BoA and the comments were bizarre. A C.S. manager at BoA named Queen actually admitted that the money had been deposited in another customers account as " We could not locate this customers account so we found one with similar numbers and put that money in that account" !!?? I was dumbfounded, the Amtrust rep was speachless.

After a brief pause I said, " Well Queen, now that you know who it belongs to you can retrieve it and put in my account, right?" Queen:" No of course we can't just take money out of someone elses account and give it to you! That individual will have to contact us and tell us teh deposit does not belong to them, then we can launch an investigation to determine IF we have made an error and probably refund it to you if in fact such an error was made." this was late June.

After several more calls with Amtrust I feared I would never get my money back and called the Attorney General for Ohio. they referred me to " The comptroller of E-Commerce" I called them and was given a phone number for BoA's executive offices. I called the number I was given (I can't find it right now) And spoke with a woman named Norma. She was upset about the runaround, or perhaps at my mention of the comptroller of e-commerce. On June 26th my money showed up in my BoA account. I immediately used every cent in the account to pay the credit card I hadn't been able to pay off for 3 months and closed the account.

I hope this account of my travail will help someone. Look up the attorney general for your state and ask how to proceed, having a compaint number for the appropriate agency probably really greased the wheels for me.
