Okay, now i'm a 19 year old college student and I opened a Bank of America account at the time with a $300 dollar deposit, about 6 months ago when I first bought my new car. To make sure that my payments would be easily sent out I decided to order checks online through my ONLINE BANKING. ( THE SO CALLED SAFE AND SECURE WEBSITE), that way I could just mail out my payments instead of paying for a money order every month. When completing my order for my check I was told that I would be charged $20.00 for my checks and they would be mailed to me. I received my checks on the June 17th of that months, my car payment wasnt due until the July 28. During about a months time I had been making deposits and purchasing with my Visa Check Card never writing a Check.

When July 20 came around I sent out the check for my Car payment only to find out my Check had bounced and not only was my car payment going to be late but I was being charged an Returned check item fee, AND a late fee. I called Bank of America and found out that I was at a ZERO balance and that my funds had been use for some online purchases. I HAD NEVER USE MY CARD ONLINE, EXPECT FOR ORDERING THE CHECKS FROM BANK OF AMERICA.

When I tried to contact the company that was given to me by Bank of America, it wasn't even a real number. It was a number where you live a message and someone one is suppose to contact you back. After about to weeks of no luck, and I called Bank of America and started to try to find ways in getting my money back, BANK OF AMERICA TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND I WOULD HAVE TO GET A LETTER FROM THE COMPANY ADMITTING THEY WERE COMITTING FRAUD BY TAKING FUNDS OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. WHAT COMPANY WOULD ACTUALLY SAy THEY COMITTING FRAUD BY DEDUCTING ALMOST 3,000 DOLLARS OUT OF SOMEONE'S BANK ACCOUNT. Until this day I believe Bank of America stole my money and gave me false information and the run around in trying to connect a company that wasn't even real.

To make a long story short I had to borrow money from my parents just to pay off my car note before I got a REPO on my credit and no car to go to class.

I HAVEN'T BEEN BACK WITH BANKOFAMERICA SINCE THAT DAY, AND NEVER PLAN TO. THEYRE THE WORST BANK AND I PRIDE MY SELF IN STOPPING OVER 100 PEOPLE FOR BECOMING THERE CUSTOMERS.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Online Statements

Did you check your account on a daily basis online? If so, you would have seen your balance daily and if something wasn't right, you would know it.

Also, the phone number is a flat out lie. Look at the back of your check card. I bet the number is 1-800-432-1000. I don't doubt you would be on hold for a while though.

Did you ever recieve a letter? Bank of America is very good about correspondence through the mail.

As someone stated, it is possible a merchant took your number, hence the point of checking your statement online (or maybe your ATM receipts if you withdrew money). Also, you could always walk into a branch and discuss your account with an employee.

I do know that it takes about 2 weeks after receiving your checks from the online service (I presume you used the one through Bank of America's site) for the amount you paid for your checks to be debited from your account.

I highly doubt Bank of America stole from your account. Story is lacking details.

What is the name of "The Company"? The company that printed the checks?

If there was theft of funds, maybe someone who worked for one of the merchants for whom she purchased merchandise may have used her checkcard information.

Deducting $3,000 out of your checking account? What does the Bank of America statement show? Where there purchases totalling $3,000.
