Bank of America had sent my husband a credit card. He Never activated the card because he has a different card with a different bank. Somehow, the credit card was already activated when we received it not only did my husband call the bank and ask them to close out his account he spoke with the supervisor and told them what happened. The supervisor promised to close out my husbands account and said that they would send him a new card on a different account. Well, my husbands new account said that he owes $8,500. He reported fraud on the old account because he NEVER used the card and he never activated the card. The bank refuses to help us with the fraud case and says that we have to pay them for their mistake.

It might be a good idea to send a copy of your Ripoff Report to the people who control the U.S. economy, the banking system, and the U.S. government.

Feel free to 'Google' this- WHO CONTROLS THE UNITED STATES ECONOMY BY MAJORITY 2010, and watch that video on the web to see who some of these people are. Many of them are bankers. They should be able to give you the proper advice, so you can resolve the situation.

Don't forget to send a copy of your Ripoff Report to President Obama. His address is available at this site. Just type in 529757 and it appears at the end of 'Consumer Comment #29' at Ripoff Report #529757.

Good luck to you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Nope, you're wrong

Federal law and good business sense does not allow a bank to send out unsolicited credit cards. Your card application may have been part of your financing package, but I assure you the bank got paperwork with your name on it requesting the card before they sent it out. No bank is going to issue a credit card to everyone who finances a vehicle through them. It doesn't happen that way.

Concerning my above rebuttal. I NEVER requested any card from BoA. They sent one to me after I purchased the Honda that was financed through BoA AND I NEVER activated the card. At the time I was wondering why in the hell they even sent me one. As soon as I saw what it was I cut it into little pieces. It was AT NO TIME activated. Yet 5 years later there is fradulent activity on card THAT WAS NEVER ACTIVATED. As I said before, they tried to jack me around by telling me I had to fill out a statement and mail it to them. WHY should I have to waste my time covering up their incompetence? They knew they screwed up and dropped the matter after I called them on it.

A couple of things...

1) Banks do NOT send unsolicited credit cards. Meaning if you received a credit card from BOA, then you requested and were approved for it.
2) Credit cards like debit cards are NOT mailed in an active status. There's a sticker on the front of the card telling you how to activate it.
3) If the card is activated and used, you get a bill in the mail. Since you got the card they had the correct address.

And most important:
4) I do NOT now and NEVER have worked for BOA. I worked for another bank and read the news. Please use a little common sense and post when you have a problem. Don't make stuff up.

Me Too

Back in 2005, I purchased a Honda for the old lady and financed through the dealer with BoA to get all the rebates. I always refinance 30 days later at a much lower interest rate with another bank or credit union. A week or so later I receive a visa card from BoA in the mail. Don't activate and cut it up. Last year, 5 years later, I get a call from BoA telling me there's fradulent activity on my BoA credit card and will I please call them. I'm wondering WHAT BoA Credit Card? I call them and they tell me someone has been using my credit card online. I ask them how in hell can someone use a card that was never activated. They he-haw around and want me to fill out and send them a statement. I tell them nothing doing, they f**ked up and authorized a card that had never been activated. They said "No problem, we'll take care of it". To the OP, go up the food chain and DEMAND to find out when, where and by whom the card was activated.
