I am hard of hearing with no phone.  When I accidently locked the keys to the moving truck inside the local Walmart asst't manager called a locksmith for me.  We were told that the service call would cost $15 and the charge to unlock the truck would be $35--maybe more if more work would be required.  The guy took less then 5 minutes to get the truck unlocked--fantastic!  The charge however, was $160!!!!  It was pre-printed on his slips how much the charge would be--how could he not know?  Secondly, there was no address or phone number on the charge slip.  Also, he lied to me and claimed that the insurance company for the truck would re-imburse me 70%--they don't do that.

No one disputes that it takes skilled labor to unlock a door--why, the day before it took a deputy _and I_ 10 minutes to get the door open, using the same tool you used.  Years before I opened a car door for a lady customer, using a coat hanger and a pair of pliers and she exclaimed that I got the door open faster than she could with her keys!
Now, is 5 minutes of work worth $145 or the $35 that I was quoted as an estimate?

>Seems to me that YOU are just all butt* over the FACT that YOU HAD TO PAY FOR YOUR MISTAKE!!!

Your language says it all.  You are a no-class loser who quotes people one thing and then charges another.  I fully admitted that I made a mistake--actually two: one for slamming the door shut before making sure that I had the key in my pocket and the second was for "calling you."  I was willing to pay to get the door unlocked--$35 for the unlock and $15 fir the service call was high, but within reason.  You knew when you made the quote that it was bogus.  You knew what your own form said.

>Do YOU even have any idea the training it takes to be a locksmith???

Probably less than any other field, like a plumber or electrician or A/C repairman, or your doctor or dentist.  I've opened car doors with no training.

>DO YOU even have an idea of how many hoops they have to go through JUST to be a locksmith??

I know you don't need a license from the city to operate.  You don't have to be binded or insured.

BTW, decades ago I locked myself out of my car, with the engine running, while I was way out in the boonies.  We didn't have cell phones back then , so I couldn't call anyone.  I snapped the radio antenna off and used that--it worked just fine and right quick too.

>This locksmith could very well take YOU to court for what YOU have posted.

Which fact could you contest?

>All YOU had to do was ASK how much this would all cost BEFORE they started working
.
The Walmart asst't manager did that before you even showed up.  You told him that it would cost $15 for the service call, $35 to unlock the door (while you knew that your receipt said $145).  You noted to him that it "might" cost extra, depending on the amount of work required--there is nothing on your form that says that.

>YOU ASSUMED an ESTIMATE was going to be the costs and it WAS NOT.

Since it took less than 5 minutes to get the door open it seems that that assumption would be correct.  You knew that your own form didn't say anything about $35, you knew that your own form didn't say anything about "extra" work would cost more.

>YOU ARE JUST MAD AT YOURSELF FOR LOCKING YOURSELF OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE!!!

I already said that--btw it wasn't my vehicle and the insurance company does NOT reimburse one for the cost of getting a locksmith--as you claimed.

You can't even follow the "rules" of this place: "DO NOT write your report all in one paragraph. Use 2 or 3 sentences to each paragraph and leave a space between each paragraph."

Sorry but YOU needed SKILLED LABOR and that costs money. If YOU don't know how to get into a vehicle and YOU don't want to do damage to that vehicle, then YOU have to deal with a LOCKSMITH!!!!! It doesn't matter if it took them ONLY 5 mins. THAT IS THE COSTS!!!!!! What YOU were given is an ESTIMATE!!! Meaning its NOT a quote and its NOT binding as the people YOU ARE CALLING are not there to see EXACTLY what the job is going to take. If paying $150.00-$250.00 for YOUR MISTAKE is too much for you then either shop around or break the window. Seems to me that YOU are just all butthurt over the FACT that YOU HAD TO PAY FOR YOUR MISTAKE!!!! It ALWAYS amazes me at how dense and DUMB people are!!! Do YOU even have any idea the training it takes to be a locksmith??? DO YOU even have an idea of how many hoops they have to go through JUST to be a locksmith?? No all YOU see is a dirty individual charging YOU more then YOU THINK they should. The REALITY is that people like YOU will try and get away with spending as little as YOU possibly can when a situation arrises. Then YOU go online AND DEFAME THEM!!!! Buddy your two for two in the "DUUUUUUUUH" category here. This locksmith could very well take YOU to court for what YOU have posted. YOU WERE NOT RIPPED OFF!!!! All YOU had to do was ASK how much this would all cost BEFORE they started working. YOU ASSUMED an ESTIMATE was going to be the costs and it WAS NOT. So YOU in a fit of PETTY VENGENCE for being made to PAY FOR YOUR MISTAKE go online and bash THEM for doing their job. REAL MATURE!!!!! NOT! Get over yourself and get over it!! RoR IS NOT FACEBOOK!!!! It IS NOT your personal blog. Its a site for people with REAL ISSUES and NOT for some ole fart to go and WHINE that THEY had to pay for something. YOU ARE JUST MAD AT YOURSELF FOR LOCKING YOURSELF OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE!!! So instead of making a post on YOURSELF, YOU go and WHINE about THEM!!!
