A few months back I started receiving mailings from this company stating that I had been turned over to collections by PayPal and that I owed $465.00. I called them one evening and told them that I had no idea what it was for and that it was most likely fraudulent. They directed me to call PayPal and take it up with them.
I called PayPal only for them to tell me that they showed no such thing on my account and that they would turn it over to their fraud dept. and to call GC Services back and tell them that PayPal would handle it. To make a really long story short (and leave out the frustrating details of an entire evening wasted due to playing phone tag between the two) GC Services continued to aggressively tell me that they were going to continue actively pursuing payment, even after PayPal had told me not to pay, which I refused to do, and wanted some kind of "confirmation number" from PayPal that PayPal says they don't have. Also, one of the PayPal reps had told me that GC Services didn't even sound like one of their collections Agencies.
Cue in the non-stop cell phone calls from GC Services for the next few months. I finally quit answering the phone, to which, they never left messages.
As of recently, all activity from them had ceased. That is until this week when I got another notice in the mail from them saying they want payment for the $465.00 I owe to PayPal.
As of tonight I had just found this website as it helped me out immensely on another scam that found its way to my door, so I decided to see if GC Services popped up on this site as well with fraud/scam reports. DING! It sure did!
I think I may try the same route as the person whose report I read about contacting an attorney and doing all I can to make them leave me alone. I also think that I should now check my credit report to make sure they haven't done any damage to mine yet.
I hope others out there see this and that it helps; and a bit thank you for all those that have also posted on here about this company!

#3 Consumer Suggestion

I feel your pain

AUTHOR: Amy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 20, 2008

I posted an issue with GC Services last year, and have since worked around them. I would suggest contacting an attorney, and checking your credit report of course. Are GC still calling you? If they find they don't reach you on the phone, they'll start calling relatives or friends. In order to cease the annoying phone calls, you need to ask them to stop calling. You can do this over the phone (when/if you decide to answer one of their calls), or you can send a letter in writing. I would also note in the letter that they validate the debt, which they probably won't be able to do. I asked them to do that for my Bank of America account, and never received a single response.

Continue to let PayPal handle the situation. Hopefully someone will bring these guys down soon.

Best of luck!
