I too, have noticed the BBB claims they don't recommend any product, service or company and then turns right around and steers you toward their fee-paying members. I see it everywhere. I mean, we're talking blatantly! So blatantly in fact, you would think they're of the opinion that we all fell off a turnip truck or something.

Hey, BBB! What's up with all that? The public has placed trust in you and you mislead them... for no apparent reason that I can think of. I'm like that other person who wrote about your so-called "non-recommendations".

Maybe you should change that disclaimer of yours to read something like the following:

"The Better Business Bureau does not endorse or recommend any product, service or company unless they've paid us a fee."

This would serve the public better on two fronts. Number one, it would be telling the truth for once and number two, it would serve as a reminder that money exchanged hands to be associated you...up to $5,000.00 annually! And as anyone knows, anytime money exchanges hands compromises will be made.

However, if blatantly telling the truth is not palatable to your
organization, then maybe you could insert the following up front in your greeting as sort of a caveat to the public:

"Welcome to the Better Business Bureau. How can we fool you today, Stupid!"

That at least, would let the public know what you think of them. After all, how much respect can you have for people when you so blatantly lie like you do?

Shame on you! You're a perfect example of what goes wrong with any group or organization when there are no checks and balances in place. I'm of the opinion, if you can't be honest about yourself, how can you be relied upon to be honest about anything else.
