I have really learned my lesson. BBandT is the worst bank that I have ever banked with in my 20+ years of banking. They purposely hold checks or debits for longer than needed. Then if your account is .01 short they will charge you for all of those purchases when there was actually enough money in the bank to cover the charges. What happens is they will put the largest items through 1st and when your account is short they will charge you for all of the items. If they put the items through as they were presented and in order of smallest item 1st, your account may have been short the .01 cent and justifiably be charged the 1 nsf fee but not for every item to be posted.
This is wrong and should be illegal.

Michelle, I am not disputing the basis of your complaint, but I do want to mention one thing.

If you look up Banks on this website, and read through the posts, just about every bank seems to do this. It's not just BB&T.
I just don't want you to be unpleasantly surprised if you switch banks, and find it hard NOT to find a bank that works this way.
I am not defending BB&T, or any bank, but specifically not BB&T, as the only way I've ever heard of them is THROUGH Ripoff Reports.
As for being illegal, yeah, it sure should.
