All of the following information about this company and its affiliates is based on my personal experience with its services and owner and on some reports of third parties. These are my opinions and those of others I trust.

There are some decent people at BCG, but they work for a person who I believe is a scum bag. The guy in charge of this company, Harrison Barnes, is (in my opinion) pathologically incapable of telling the truth about almost anything. He is a master at shading the truth. If you talk to him in an unguarded moment, he will tell you what a master he is at manipulating people. He will tell you that most people are beneath him. He will make himself out to be the greatest entrepreneur in the world. None of it is true.

It takes a singular sort of person to come up with what Harrison has come up with. First, he starts a legal recruiting company called BCG Attorney Search. He did not like recruiting, so he decided to go with a passive model and spend a lot of money on advertising to bring in candidates. His good idea was to use a bunch of web spiders and Indian subs to pull jobs off of the internet and post them on his website. Having done that, he pitched himself as a guy with a bunch of offices and recruiters. When I was aware of the facts, there were no more than 10 recruiters nationwide. None of them actually did much recruiting. Mostly they would fight over territories and place people off of the web ads. But he was claiming at the time to be a HUGE business, and he still is claiming that. If you read his website, you will be led to the conclusion that there are 100 people working at BCG. I can almost guarantee you that there are not even close to that number. I would bet that the majority of the people who do work for the company are probably still in India (which incidentally is where you will be if you ever need to call customer service for any of the affiliates - LawCrossing, Legal Authority, Resume Apple, etc.).

His next idea was to try to capitalize from the stream of weak candidates he was receiving in his recruiting business, so he started Legal Authority, which sends out resumes to a database of law firms and companies that his Indian subs came up with. That business charges law students and attorneys a hefty fee for sending resumes. The staff of resume writers, as I recall, was a couple of women in a small room. They were smart people who had attended a resume writing seminar. For twenty minutes of their time and a couple hundred sheets of paper run off of a big printer, Harrison would charge an average of about $1,200. This was translating to sales of $40-60K per week for his company. His websites still clearly say that he does not make any money off of the Legal Authority business because it's just a public service. He's lying. To the extent he's not making money, it's because he's cooking the books.

Speaking of cooking the books, one of Harrison's other tricks was to pay for his mortgage on his house through the company accounts. He would have people from the company occasionally stay at the house and he would host a Christmas party. For this, according to his former accountant, he would write off his mortgage through the company. This was a house worth several million dollars, mind you. So the extent that trick was legit, he possibly did not make any money.

The next act was to start Law Crossing, which (I have to hand it to him) has become an icon in the legal world. What does that business do? It scans the web and reposts jobs and charges candidates for the jobs. It fails to note that Harrison does not take old jobs down, and I believe that every fact you might find on the website for that company is false. Harrison is very bold about making statements of fact that are simply false. His principle is that people tend to assume good intent. "If you say it, people will want to believe it," is something he said often in my presence.

What was interesting at Law Crossing was that Harrison obscured the fact that he was running that business from the recruiters at BCG. He would post the jobs from BCG on LawCrossing for anyone to see at first. He had a lot of trouble from his recruiters for that, most of whom were pretty lazy, because they did not want to see the jobs that they were working sold to people willing to pay $20/month (now it's $30/month I think - got to pay for the new house).

Law Crossing has managed to get the credit cards of thousands of lawyers around the country. They don't care that they could get the jobs somewhere else for free because it's not that much money (to an overpaid lawyer). Harrison thought the idea was so brilliant that he has launched into similar "Crossings" for other sectors - healthcare, sales, you name it. I seriously doubt that those businesses are convincing smart people to put down their cards for $30/month at anywhere close to the same rate. Who would PAY to see a job listing? The idea was brilliant for lawyers, though. Just don't believe a SINGLE THING you read on the website. The business has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, I believe.

Next act - Cross marketing to attorneys and others who want to refinance their loans. Harrison started a student loan consolidation company. He got into a little trouble when someone noticed that he was calling his company a "bank" and that claim came down. Other brazen claims remain. If you want to consolidate loans, there is no reason to offer a skim to Harrison Barnes. Call your bank or Sallie Mae! This episode of Harrison's troubles brings up the story of someone else who was screwed by Harrison- a guy named Peter who worked with Harrison to set up the consolidation business. Peter was from a fancy firm in New York and was really full of himself for no apparant reason because he could not manage a group to save his life. But he had the idea to start the loan consolidations and wound up leaving after he had set it up to do the same thing at Vault (another lousy company, BTW). That person is not a fan of Harrison because, as in so many cases, he is said to have failed to keep promises.

You see, everything is cross marketed at BCG/LawCrossing/Legal Authority, etc. If you want a little glimpse into the soul of the guy that runs the place, look at his employmentcrossing.com video of himself petting his dog (proof that the affection of your dog is no evidence as to your value as a human being). He goes into how all he's ever wanted to do is help people and to do research while pounding on the dog. It's priceless. He talks about his split family and other things supposedly from his life. None of it is really true. He said once that his mother was an alcoholic, and I know that his parents have long been divorced. But he is not all about research and helping. He's about sending out resumes - there is a minimum quota of sent resumes at BCG every week that is enforced. Do you want to work with a recruiter who is REQUIRED to send out five new resumes every week and who gets all of his or her resumes off of the web?

Harrison was bragging recently at having made $5 million in a single year. Who knows if it is true, but it may well be. He's probably continued that streak. He's in business for money, pure and simple.

If you choose to work with these companies, you will be doing business with a guy who has negative references from most people who have known him throughout his life from boyhood to his current age of about 40. From an ex-wife, to his own father, to his fraternity brothers, to his former work colleagues, to his former and probably current employees, there are dozens of people who would stand up and say, "don't trust Harrison Barnes."

With that warning, do as you please.

Interesting

AUTHOR: Nyc people's lawyer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 29, 2011

I just did some searching on the BCG site.  I've thought they were a scam for some time.  I don't know but suspect they are.  I looked up their address in New York.  It's 1560 Broadway, 10036.  When you look at that on google maps, it's a McDonald's and the Time Square Visitor's Center.  I checked the McDonalds website and, yes, 1560 is the restaurant.  I then looked at their placements from January of 2011 (http://www.bcgsearch.com/pdf/bcgplacements.pdf).  They list the following on page 4 as places where they've placed people:

G
Gadsby Hannah LLP
Gallagher Callahan & Gartrell PA
Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith
Gambrell Stolz
Gardere Wynne Sewell
Gesmer Updegrove
Gibbons Del Deo Dolan
Gibson Dunn
Goold Patterson Ales Roadhouse & Day

Oddly Gibbons Del Deo Dolan Griffinger and Vechione split several years ago.  Mr. Gibbons formed Gibbons, P.C. (www.gibbonslaw.com).  These seem to lend credence to the notion that "there's no there there."  Finally, Goold Patterson Ales Roadhouse & Day is a Las Vegas firm with just 7 attorneys.  Based upon the firm's website, the last person hired there appears to be in 2006.

Just my 2 cents

AUTHOR: Ken - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 07, 2011

I don't know anyone involved in this, I just read the bcgsearch.com site for the articles.  I'm not looking for a job, rather, I visit the site for hiring or other HR information.

The content on the site is extremely well written.  Even if you don't get a job from Barnes or hate him for it, if you read his content and think about it - you can learn alot.

I also like the yearly roundup of law schools - it is just summarizing information, I believe - but for someone trying to figure out what good gpa is from one of these schools, it helps.  It takes real work to produce it - and he's giving it out for free.

In terms of this lawsuit - that seems really a bad idea - for reasons already mentioned above.

So as far as I can tell, though never having given a dollar to Mr. Barnes, someone running a completely illegitimate business could not write the content he has written.  He obviously knows something about success at law firms.  And no other site seems to have the free content.

The unhappiness with his site I suspect may be unhappiness with the job market in general.  If everyone had 6 figure jobs out of law school, I suspect no one would really be complaining about Barnes.

Just my 2 cents.

A. Harrison Barnes and Paul Berra Caused Great Damage to BCG Attorney Search, Lawcrossing, Legal Authority and Other Affiiated Companies

AUTHOR: Interested - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, April 30, 2010

It seems strange that people are now posting intimate details of the libel lawsuit that should be available to only the parties and their attorneys.  One thing that has been left out but is the most obvious point is that Barnes probably got slammed on this one because the complaint that he broadcast on his own website was embarassing.  Anyone with any knowedge of how these things work woud notice right away that Paul Berra drafted something that never really stated a cause of action.  On top of that he asked for ten million dollars in damages and that alone would probably predispose the court to look at it as amateur and not entirely serious.  It seems that Barnes constantly bragged about some great lawsuit to a lot of people both inside and outside his companies and based upon a story from American Maestro even tried to use his wife and family as excuses as to why he brought the case.  It all looks like Harrison Barnes was just trying to come off to people looking like a tough guy and that was more important than the merits of his case and how to address the legitimate shortcomings of his company services.  It is obvious that his unduly large but very thin ego was more the issue than trying to win a valid legal claim.

Looks like Kinney was right when he wrote that Barnes mentioned that Barnes thinks that most people are beneath him and he is a master in his own mind at manipulating people.

One thing that really jumps out at me.  Kinney said that Barnes would get negative references from his own father, ex-wife and school friends.  How come Barnes couldn't get any of these people to stand up for him in addition to current employees who probably worried that they woud be fired if they didn't support Harrison?  I mean, come on now, he couldn't even get a document of support from his own father.  That realy syas something.

Legal Eagle is a Little Off

AUTHOR: That Guy - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 29, 2010

Kinney won because he proved that Barnes had no probability of prevailing in his case against Kinney.  The judge held that there was no probability Barnes could prevail because both the statute of limitations had passed, and also because Kinney had spoken out to readers of this website who have a common interest in the subject matter.   The judge most likely was incorrect when he held that BCG Attorney Search was not covered by the anti-SLAPP statute.  I'd be surprised if Kinney did not appeal that ruling.  CCP Section 425.17 says that in order for an item of speech to be exempted from the anti-SLAPP statute by 425.17 under the circumstances of this case, it would have to be both a) made by a competitor and b) made to get business. I don't know how anything said anonymously could be inferred to have been said to get business for the anonymous speaker, unless you infer the intent simply from the fact that the statement was made by the competitor.  But whether they are a competitor is the first prong of the two-prong test.  You can't infer satisfaction of the second prong of a two-prong test from satisfaction of the first prong, can you?

Harrison Barnes Still Can't Control Himself

AUTHOR: Dennin Bottom - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 26, 2010

Legal Eagle must be somebody with inside knowledge about this whole libel crap.  The person is also obviously trying to put a positive spin on Harrison's disaster.  What Legal Eagle says just proves even more that Harrison Barnes can't help himself from his deceptive ways and won't learn that he is his own worst enemy (I think Leal Eagle is the first person to ever mention that there was a separate libel suit against Barnes - WOW!).  You'd think that the fact that Harrison just became father to a new child would help to refocus his energy towards honesty and ethics but I guess he is just too set in his ways.

Legal Eagle said that Harrison Barnes only spent about $20,000 on his legal fees but last summer he sent an e-mail to all of his employees bragging that he had already spent over $100,000 in legal fees.  That was before he started getting all hot and heavy.  Last fall he even had to ask a lot of his employees to sign statements telling the court that Harrison was a good person and Kinney was a liar.  I wonder what would have happened to their jobs of they refused.  I don't know how much Harrison really spent on this fiasco but it cost him a lot more than $20,000 and even more in the trust he lost because he focused so much of his company's time and energy on the lawsuit.

Barnes did try to appeal but the court threw out the appeal.  It looks like Harrison's lawyer screwed up because the appeal was dismissed because his lawyer forgot to file papers on time.  There is a rumor that this may not have been just a mistake but a consequence of Harrison's inability to pay his own lawyer.

What happened with AmericanMaestro? Harrison just dropped the case against him outright.  That's surprising because Harrison knew who this person was from the start, there shouldn't have been any statute of limitation issues and AM said much more damaging stuff than Kinney.  In fact, Barnes just dropped the entire case. That Barnes dropped the suit might also be because he can't pay his legal fees.

Legal Eagle, can you help explain why Harrison dropped the entire lawsuit?  You seem to know so much about the details and the court papers.  Maybe you can also tell us why Harrison didn't go after many of the other identifiable people who railed against Barnes like Corcodilos or legalauthorityscam.  While you're at it, maybe you can tell us what happened to Harrison's grand move to Las Vegas that he bragged about last year when he told everyone he was expanding the company.

The worst part about this for Harrison is that he could have won if he simply proved that the unfavorable and most damaging parts of Albert's post were lies.  Sure, things like calling him a scumbag or saying that Barnes is a pathological liar could be opinion, but what about the factual statements that Harrison "cooked the books," or that all of his employees are in India, or that he uses his companies to pay for his houses and cars, or that he has life-long negative references or that he dodges taxes?  Those seem like simple things to refute.

Lawsuit against Robert Kinney

AUTHOR: Legal Eagle - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 22, 2010

I have been following the lawsuit that Barnes filed against Kinney.  It is surprising to me how much misinformation still exists out there.  This is what I understand about the case:

1. Although Kinney prevailed on what's called an anti-SLAPP motion, the court did not rule that the statements he made about Barnes while acting under the name Albert were true.

2. The court found that Kinney's statements about Barnes were mainly opinion versus statements of fact.

3. Although the court found that Barnes' claims against Kinney were barred by the one-year statute of limitations, that issue will likely be appealed.  Barnes argued that the SOL should have been tolled while he was trying to figure out Albert's true identity.

4. According to papers filed with the court, Kinney spent over $60,000 in attorney fees and costs related to the anti-SLAPP motion.  Apparently this was three times the amount that Barnes spent opposing the motion.

5. Kinney dismissed the Texas libel suit that he had filed against Barnes.

Hopefully this is helpful to those of you interested in the case.

A. Harrison Barnes Again Caught Lying About His Companies: Lawcrossing, Hound, Employmentcrossing, Legal Authority, Law Firm Staff, EdFed

AUTHOR: Eileen - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Harrison Barnes has finally proved that he is a full fledged liar desperate to distort the truth of his failures. In todays blog of 1/26/10 he makes statements that are verifiably untrue. (And Mr. Barnes, please dont remove or alter your blog as you have done in the past when youve been caught red-handed. Several people have already saved copies.)

Harrison Barnes starts off by stating that he received a letter about a year ago . . . from a large financial institution saying they could no longer lend me funds to provide student loans. He immediately adds I had grown my student loan company into a large business over the previous few years and was doing hundreds of millions of dollars in loans annually.

Lets start here. Andy, we all remember that you started the business in 2005 through an idea created by your COO and generated a good cash flow for a little over a year UNTIL THE GOVERNMENT FORCED YOU TO STOP OPERATIONS. So you didnt stop a year ago because of the credit crisis (as you imply) but several years ago as required by the government. Lets also get the truth out. You NEVER provided ANY loans but just used your SPAM database to send out solicitations on behalf of other questionable third party loan companies in exchange for a cut for each successful lead.  Andrew Harrison Barnes, that makes you a routine salesperson and in NO WAY a sophisticated loan company. Its time that you admitted this to the world.

You also claim that you offered people other positions. HA!! As all of your former employees remember you did a mass firing in a throe of panic. Those who got the best treatment were people we never met in Utah and India.

Then you go on about all the money you spent to expand the company but you leave out the personal spending spree you went on to buy homes, cars and vacations. A LOT of that money went towards your selfish personal needs. Just so you know, many of your employees thought that you were out of control with all of your personal and business spending (although it was difficult to tell the difference between the two).

Maybe, as you claim, you really did look around for loans to replace your lost cash but those of us who stayed on (or stayed in touch with those who did) know the real truth. You started new companies like a desperate madman so that you could maintain your lifestyle and none of them really succeeded.  All of the crossings, Hound, Law Firm Staff, etc. are just your continued desperate attempts to keep your multiple houses and cars while maintaining to the world that you are still a success.

Why is this important on this site? Because consumers should know how and why all of these companies started, the reasons why it is so difficult to cancel services or get legitimate refunds and the level of distortion you are willing to create to save your own skin while trying to look like the good guy who is heartbroken for his employees.  In the end it's all about you saving your own butt with a total disregard for moral or ethical behavior.

Personally I am glad that I left early rather than be a part of the fraud of companies that you now operate.  I make just a little bit less but am certain that I am not working for a shyster.

It's Over for Harrison Barnes, BCG Attorney Search, Lawcrossing, Legal Authority and Employmentcrossing

AUTHOR: Arlene - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, December 13, 2009

The infamous law suit that attorney Paul Berra filed on behalf of A. Harrison Barnes was easily thrown out of court last week against Kinney, a/k/a Albert, with potential penalties and costs for Barnes.  Although this doesn't mean that anything written about Barnes and his nefarious companies are necessarily true, the court's decision should undergird the numerous complaints written about his operations.

As this year comes to a close Barnes lost (in his own words) over $100,000 in legal fees on this lawsuit alone, will pay the costs of the defendant and faces another libel suit against him in Texas that resulted from Harrison turning this fiasco into a boisterous and frivolous lawsuit.  As if this weren't bad enough, while the self-proclaimed "jobs guru" and super businessman was fighting this stupid suit, all of his companies have lost their standing as registerd businesses in either CA, NV or both (supposedly for non-payment of taxes), he had to shut down his CA headquarters and terminate all of its employees, shut down offices in many cities throughout the country, faces foreclosure on one or more of his properties, lost over half of his recruiters (while telling people in the company that BCG was "the only recruiting firm that is expanding"), faces sharply reduced revenues at his Internet companies, has alienated most of the people who once supported him, caused his family significant hardship and still can't pull off his move to Nevada (a move that he told us he was doing to expand the company - such bulls&*t).

As all this happened he constantly blamed other people for his problems.  Reading his recent blogs one can't be surprised.  Harrison has been recounting stories from his early childhood through law school and describing them as horrible events that damaged him forever.  He described his family (especially his step-sister), his so-called best friends, his classmates, his frat brothers, various women and his co-workers as any combination of being drug addicts, emotionally unstable, lazy, spoiled, or engaged in criminal behavior.  Harrison constantly recounts how he was isolated and socially avoided.  He tries to twist these stories into something job related but the truth is that he never misses an opportunity to blame these people and experiences for his problems.  Harrison still can't pass up an opportunity to speak behind people's backs to pass blame for his own mistakes.

Is there any reason then why we should doubt "Albert's" statement that Barnes gets negative references from people from every stage of his life?  After all, if this is how Harrison describes his relationships one wonders what they must have thought about him.

That the law suit was thrown out doesn't necessarily mean the statements here and elsewhere are either true or false.  But given Harrison's own writings combined with the court decisions combined with his increasingly disturbing behavior among those who know him there is every reason to believe that people, including consumers, business associates and others, should be cautious in their dealings with him.  It's amazing how this one person can cause so much chaos and harm to so many people but fail to see the results of, or accept responsibility for, his own behavior.

Paul Berra is IN FACT Very Funny

AUTHOR: BayAreaBombshell - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, September 04, 2009

The previous post is very ironic because I also read it yesterday and thought it was a joke.  It reads like it was drafted by a 1L both in format and substance. The several pages can be distilled down to this Cindy Brady type reading:

"That's him!!  That's him Mr. Officer!!  He twas yelling at me and called me a bad name!!  Now he wants to take $10 from me only because his parents hurt him when he was little and he's going broke and can't show his in-laws that he really makes money.  He said I am the reason that his wife cries (really, he said that)."

Hey Harrison, clean your own house and while you are at it, stop pretending to anything about - well - anything, especially regarding human nature in the workplace.  You get it all wrong and, YES, we laugh at your blogs too.

Paul, I have to tell you: I read your libel complaint today, and was dumbfounded. I couldn't believe this had been drafted by an attorney. I mean, it's downright laughable (in fact, a number of us were laughing). Not to even mention the typos. Is this indicative of your legal drafting?

POSTED: Sunday, August 16, 2009

first of all, its really fitting that an attack on harrison is followed by 19 replies from guys in india defending his honor in mangled english.

i dont know how the original poster got all of his 100% accurate information, but surely this is some kind of corporate espionage. robert kinney is a competitor of harrison's. surely, harrison wouldn't file a lawsuit against kinney if he didn't really think kinney was the one who made the original post. right?

maybe i shouldnt have said the post was 100% accurate. it has all the facts but gets the tone all wrong. here's what all the haters of harrison miss. harrison is a decent guy. yes, mistakes have been made. but barnes is a cool guy. sorry if you guys feel ripped off. i worked for him. i never tried to rip anyone off. i dont think harrison would either.

and, no, i wasn't paid  .005 % of a penny to post this reply by shorttask, as everyone else here seems to be.

Thoughts from an Ex Employee about BCG Attorney Search

AUTHOR: simon cairns - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, August 14, 2009

I'd like to address some of the recent postings about Harrison Barnes and his companies. I realize and understand that there are some who haven't had a great experience with the (formerly) Employmentscape organization, and therefore I wanted to share my personal experiences of working there.

I'm Simon Cairns and I worked for Harrison and his Employmentscape companies from Nov 2004-Nov 2008. I was General Manager of BCG Attorney Search and for a time I was responsible for managing Legal Authority. I want to address some of the issues that have been raised in the above postings. I'm sorry I won't be able to address them all. Of the companies that have been mentioned, I only worked with BCG Attorney Search and Legal Authority (for a short time). I can't comment on matters which have happened since my departure. I have not been asked to write this, I won't gain in any way from writing it. I also decided not to write this under a pseudonym or anonymously.

Issue 1 BCG is a scam company that serves only to reject resumes?

Not the case. BCG is a multi million dollar corporation in its own right. They have placed associates and partners at many of the major law firms across the US and associates in many countries around the world. This is a fact. I'm sorry that this may not sit well with those who have been rejected from BCG, but it's the truth. A list of firms that BCG has made placements at is listed on their website. The recruiters at BCG are some of the brightest people Ive worked with in 10 years of recruiting. They are extremely well credentialed, having worked at many leading law firms in the US. Check out their biographies. Moreover they are very passionate about what they do and seek only to achieve the very best for the attorney clients they represent.

 I

t's been mentioned that recruiters are commissioned. A point of clarification required here. Most recruiting organizations operate in this way, with various levels of draw (against earnings/future commissions). In many recruiting industries, draws and salaries have been slashed in addition to significant lay offs. Recruiters aren't immune from what's happening in the world right now.

Issue 2 BCG rejects most of the resumes they receive.

This is true. It is also true of almost every legal recruiting firm (if not recruiters in most sectors). Unfortunately, recruiter professionals cannot help every individual who seeks representation. I wish we could. Recruiters are in the business of helping people after all. However, while we represent both law firms and attorneys, it is the law firms who pay for the service we provide. They also provide recruiters with the specific criteria for their hiring need, and recruiters must adhere to those criteria. If recruiters didn't, they'd not be working with that client very long. If you asked for your hallway to be painted red and your painter chose brown because he felt it was a better color.. well you get the idea.

 I

ssue 3 People are rejected from BCG and get endless spam from affiliated companies.

Marketing emails are sent from BCG and affiliated companies. I still get them (Im still listed on their database). I dont find emails from BCG or affiliated companies offensive, but I dont find even spam emails offensive. I simply delete them. For those who do find such emails annoying, I suggest using the unsubscribe function at the bottom of the email or reply stating "unsubscribe all companies" A system was certainly in place to address such matters while I was working there.

Issue 4 Legal Authority hands you a phone book and charges you for marketing yourself.

Legal Authority is a direct mailing service for attorneys. Many law firms, medium and small firms, (especially in this challenging economy) are seeking to find attorneys directly rather than using the services of a recruiter. Legal Authority customizes and improves an attorney's resume and cover letter and prints them according to your search criteria. If for instance AM, you wanted to contact all tax firms of a certain size in a certain location, you could identify them from research, call them, get the name of the hiring partner, and send your cover letter. If there's only 20 firms meeting your criteria, that's easy. If however, there are 200, it's quite a different project. This is precisely what Legal Authority does. They'll prepare the 200 (or however many) individually addressed cover letters and resumes in a fraction of the time it would take a client to prepare them alone. If using Legal Authority were to help a client secure a position even one month sooner than their own efforts, it would be worth it. There were statistics about the success of Legal Authority on the website I believe. And for sure, masses of attorneys secured positions this way while I was working for Employmentscape.

Issue 5 Some BCG offices are in serviced office locations, such as Regus.

This is correct. Some BCG offices are in such spaces. They are prestigious offices in convenient locations for major law firms. I can think of several recruiting organizations that are operating from the recruiter's home office or even bedroom. Similarly, there are tens of thousands of home office businesses operating effectively throughout the US. Are their businesses any less valid? Should my former colleagues be criticized because they're working from leased offices? Should Harrison be criticized because he chooses to operate from serviced offices?

Issue 6 The manager left because he was tired of Harrison's shady methods

This isn't true. Did Harrison and I always agree on every business decision? Absolutely not, but I would say that I was hired for reasons other than my being agreeable. Harrison has built very successful organizations and I learned a great deal from him. I also chose to leave to pursue another challenge.

Im sorry that Im not able to answer more of the matters that were raised and also address more of the false statements above. There are many, particularly in the anonymous posts. There are also some accurate points made. What I will say is that the BCG recruiters (in fact every person at BCG I came into contact with - accounts/writers/researchers and editors) and the Legal Authority Employment Advocates are very diligent and focused employment professionals who work hard for their clients every day. It's unfair that these people are being criticized as working for a sham organization. It's simply not the case.

Harrison may upset some with the emails that his organization sends (see 3 above). However, there is no doubt in my mind that since the company was founded, its been responsible for helping many thousands of people with their job search.

BCG and Lawcrossing are Terrible Businesses That Are Deceitful and Take Money in Exchange for False Leads and SPAM

AUTHOR: Kenny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 01, 2009

This all happened in 2008 but I guess my experience was not unique and people should hear about it. I signed up for BCG three times but was rejected as unqualified each time. The first time was because I only had one year of work experience. The other times I was told that my law school was not prestigious enough. My school is in the top 5o in the US News rankings but I know of two people who BCG accepted from schools in the bottom half of the rankings including Northern Kentuky School of Law and Tauro Schol of Law (no insult intended but that's just where the schools ranked). Then I couldn't get out of constant unsolicited e-mails from filling my inbox every day. The latest bulk of e-mails come from JDJOURNAL, another Harrison Barnes company.

Anyway, I tried Lawcrossing. I never was able to find out if the jobs that I applied to were real but I did get a letter back from the attorney general's office of a state next to where I live stating that no such jobs existed in their offices and further asked me why I thought that there was a job opening. I told them through Lawcrossing and the person in the office told me that they had a lot of problems with that company becauae they advertised many jobs that didn't exist including jobs for deputy attorney generals.

Then I tried to cancel my subscription and that was a total nightmare. No online or e-mail options so I had to call at my own expense because there was no toll free number. I was on hold forever only to reach a person with a typical U.S. name but obviously not from the U.S. He tried everything to keep me as a customer or sell me other products. I couldn't just hang up because I wouldn't be sure that they processed my request. After I finished with their customer service I imediately called my own state attorney general in MD, the attorney general in the neighboring state (PN) and the better business bureau to complain.

Will Harrison Barnes Be Forced to Close BCG?

AUTHOR: Roydc - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 31, 2009

It looks like BCG Attorney Search may not be around for long. Since January 2009 recruiters have left the company in Boston, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Texas, Los Angeles and Washington DC. Last year the manager of BCG quit the company because he was tired of putting up with Harrison Barnes's shady methods and other recruiters left in Atlanta/Charlotte and New York. Right now there is one recruiter that has not done any work this year for personal reasons and at least two other recruiters are planning to leave.

BCG now has a couple of people in NY, 1 in DC, 1 in TX 2 in Chicago and a couple in southern CA but only a few of those are active. Morale is terrible and Harrison never discusses departures honestly with the rest of the recruiters so it is not clear if these people were fired or quit. One thing for certain is that departures are usually bitter and Harrison Barnes speaks very poorly and disparagingly of his employees after they leave. What he says is much worse than anything written by the people he is suing and none of it is true. Harrison Barnes takes pride in running his businesses in secret while deceiving everyone including his employees. For example, during 2009 he constantly told the recruiters that BCG was strong and growing while the company was falling apart. The reason he speaks so poorly of other employees is so he can blame them for the problems that are entirely of his own making.

Part of the 2009 breaking point came in April when Harrison harassed the recruiters to attend a recruiting convention in DC and told the recruiters how important it was that everyone attend. Some people thought they would be fired if they didn't attend. Then, instead of attending the convention himself, Harrison races off to a multi-thousand dollar motivational seminar (probably paid for by the company) and then continues to vacation in the Pacific. Harrison also annoys recruiters to fill their free in this bad economy time by writing articles and blogs even though he doesn't pay any recruiters anything except for commissions and is less than honest with how he pays his recruiters.

I used to like Harrison Barnes but he couldn't hide his true self this year. He became the Emperor with no Cloths and nobody would tell him the truth because he usually fired anyone who disagreed with him. I think the reason so much of the background is coming out now is because so people have left and are still leaving and have nothing to lose by revealing the truth. Every former and remaining recruiter at BCG are great, hard-working and caring people. It is a shame that it took so long for everyone to learn his true nature. My guess is that just about every remaining recruiter will leave at the first opportunity, especially as the economy gets better.

How Do We Know That Litigation Barnes for Harrison Barnes is Telling THe Truth

AUTHOR: Jerry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Mr. Litigation Counsel:

How do we know that Harrison Barnes isnt making this up to smear a competitor? And what if what Albert says is true? I can't believe that one person is behind all of the negativity on dozens of web sites.

I was once annoyed by the amount of unsolicited SPAM sent by Harrison Barnes, John Simpson and Carleen Trapp after I was rejected by BCG but took care of that by directing everything to junk. Fortunately, the profesional filtering programs inclusing Symantec already have e-mails sent by A. Harrison Barnes a programmed into their database so they automatically are treated as junk SPAM. But I never would have known about how shady Harrison Barnes and his companies are until he started filing these lawsuits.

People who scream the loudest and make threats are usually the people who have the most to hide. Please let us know when you file the complaint so we can all see what Harrison Barnes claims are lies. I will assume that anything left out of the complaint is true.

Good luck

Jerry

True Identity of "Albert from Los Angeles, CA"

POSTED: Monday, July 27, 2009

I am litigation counsel for Harrison Barnes. As I indicated in an earlier post, Mr. Barnes recently filed a lawsuit against a number of individuals for defamation including "Albert from Los Angeles, California." By obtaining a court order, I have learned that "Albert" is Robert Kinney. It is my understanding that Mr. Kinney runs Kinney Recruiting, a direct competitor of Mr. Barnes' recruiting companies. Please keep this in mind when evaluating the credibility of "Albert's" posts. We look forward to inserting "Albert's" true name in the lawsuit and asserting all of Mr. Barnes' legal rights and remedies with respect thereto.

The Statements ABout Harrison Barnes, BCG, Hound, Employmentcrosing, Vanara, Lawcrossing, etc. Are All True- Plus More

AUTHOR: Watchingu - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 27, 2009

I can't believe that Harrison Barnes wants to sue at least three people (Albert, Joe C. and American Maestro) because of what has been said about him. Harrison Barnes is a fool because everyone in all of his companies either knows that the statements and observations are true or at least are cosistent with the impression that lives everyone in his companies. According to the latest, Harrison Barnes fired hall of his people at his headquarters in Pasadena, slashed his very cheap Indian labor, using shody inputs from another of his companies (Shorttask) to fill in for the lost cheap labor, used Carleen Trapp in either Utah to help him arrange for Harrison Barnes to live in multi-million dollar homes using company dollars.

Everyone in the company also knows that he is off his rocker when he tries to extoll his knowledge and wisdom about employment matters and the value o good employees. There is a rumor, but probably true, that he told one of recruiters that he was going to cancel her benefits because she wasn't making legal placements or working hard enough in this economy. That person quite. Since at least 2004 Harrison Barnes can't hold to an employee to save his life and just about all people leave on bad terms.

Although none of the BCG recruiters will say this, they all speak about him behind his back and think that he is an unstable and dishonest person. In BCG, he is left with the smallest number of recruiters in over five years (you should have sen them in 2004-5, it was a full house, and so much for his claim that BCG is the largest and ost respectable recruiter) and more will leave soon. He will be left with a handful of people who were with him before 2004 and you can probably count those on one hand. In the meantime, he will continue to divert commssion from BCG to pay to start other compaines, cheat recruiters out of expense reimbursements and lie to them about how bright the future is for everyone.

Now he wants to blame all of his failures on people who he has injured writing about him on the net as though the namecalling destroyed his businesses. I hope the lawsuits that he threatens will go through so that he will be forced to defend his shady and illegal activities. I also hope that his lawsuits will be the opportunity for anyone with a reasonable greivance against him to couter-sue him so that he is finally exposed for what he is, the worst owner/manager in history, a person who lies and cheats anyone out of anything, a charlatan who has no credentials or credibility speaking about employer/employee matters and a person who is forced to survive though scheming companies because he couldn't hold a job himself having gone through three legal jobs in three years after law school graduation (and this from a person who blogs about the impportance of career stability).

Harrison Barnes, time to dust off your famous asphault resurfacing equipment and get ready for the work that to re-enter the career field that you blog about incessently.

You are all very misinformed.

AUTHOR: Ramona - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 10, 2008

Andrew Harrison Barnes is an upstanding individual and a very fair employer. His services give legal professionals the opportunity to branch out world wide and expand their careers as individual in many facets of the legal field.

Those who choose to use this online forum as a means of complaining about their own inability fulfill their own job responsibilites or whom are otherwise personally invested in destroying a man's reputation, are not only displaying an unbearable reflection of poor sportsmanship- but are notably unworthy of employment or any affiliation with his company and his business endeavors.

Harrison Barnes has built a fantastic resource for anyone seeking employment in the legal world- from paralegals to attorneys, from legal secretaries to firm office managers.

I advise use all of you to occupy your free time to find a new job (one you will undoubtedly find to acquire some more overexaggerated and mean spirited reasons to eventually complain about upon your termination- as all of you are seemingly far too eager to blame others over seizing the opportunity to actually teach yourself how to do your job efficiently/ have a life!)...
AND use that time to maybe revamp your resume instead of spewing out lies in the smoke and mirrors fashion you have so done in a tactless and absurd display on this website.

In other words, you are all very pathetic to me and one day, when complaints and ill motives catch up to you in your lives, will find that... karma really is a b***h, isn't it?

Good luck in the evolution process! You are going to need every ounce of self-help to be able to change your perspective and open your poisoned little eyes up!

#17 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Andrew Harrison Barnes is a scamster. Plain and Simple.

AUTHOR: Joe C. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 05, 2008

As an ex-employee (not disgruntled), I can verify that everything presented by the Original Poster is true to the word.

I'll refer to Andrew Harrison Barnes as Harrison.

To get the background, read this report:

http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/370/ripoff0370140.htm

Sequence of events:

Harrison started Barrister Consulting Group (BCG) as an attorney placement company. He hired a few recruiters all over US to work from their homes and create a nationwide company "brand name". Down the line, he rechristened the company to BCG Attorney Search.

Then, he stole a database of contacts from a reputable vendor and created his own repository of law firms, and corporations based on the city/state and their area of trade. He called this Legal Authority. The objective of this service was to give consumers printed resumes addressed to the companies from his pirated database for a fee. And, the fee runs into thousands of dollars per consumer.

Given Harrison's knack of stealing ideas/intellectual property, he got his workers in his sweat shop in India to start copying jobs from other "free" job boards and save them for his "paid" web site, which is now known as Law Crossing. Harrison did not even spare the job boards that have a policy of "It is NOT ok to post this job elsewhere". Well, he never cared about the law.

Law Crossing has an annual revenue of around four million dollars and Harrison pockets most of it or say blows it on Rolly Royce, buying multi-million dollar homes in Malibu and Pasadena and such stuff.

The point being, he charges consumers for something he did NOT create, plagiarized someone else's effort and rakes in millions of dollars every year.

Along with Legal Authority, he started a couple of resume writing companies - Attorney Resume and Resume Apple. Harrison charges in excess of a thousand dollars, in average, per order for these companies and after all's said and done, the consumer wonders, why s/he paid that much for a horrible service. The resume writers operate from the sweat shop in India and use "templates" to write "customized" resumes.

Then, he heard about Sallie Mae and Citibank making hundreds of millions of dollars in student loan consolidation. He started his own "bank" - that's what he called it. Basically, he started Law School Loans, a web site that offers to consolidate student loans. He used every email address he had on file (BCG, Legal Authority, Law Crossing etc.) to spam the consumers about this new web site. He called them, emailed them, again called them to the point of excess harassment and threats of law suits. He gave access to the private information of the consumers (SSN, loan history, defaults etc.) to the workers in India.

Thanks to the US Senate, unscrupulous loan consolidation vendors like Law School Loans were put out of business in 2006/2007 when the Senate blocked the unbridled access to student's private information because of rampant misuse. Law School Loans still exists but offers services like Private Loans.

Harrison made a few million dollars from Law School Loans by comprising the privacy of innocent consumers in the form running the operations from another country and giving non US Citizens access to SSN's and other confidential information.

As if one Crossing (Law Crossing was not enough), Harrison flooded the internet with more crossing.com's. He formed Employment Crossing and floated around 50 odd web sites, meant for different occupations. Law Crossing steals law jobs. Other crossings steal jobs from other trades. Harrison gives you a week of free trial, captures your email address, spams you with services from all his other scam web sites and rips your privacy. It's almost impossible to get out of the free trial; either your free trial will be extended for a week, then a month, quarter and so on OR you will totally forget that you signed up for this because on your credit card you will see charges in the form of "Education services". And, yes, he will take you credit card information even for the free trial in the name of "Administrative needs". People have narrated their horror stories that they were charged for six months after they tried to cancel.

Law Crossing rakes in four million dollars. If, ten percent of other crossings are even half as successful as Law Crossing, you will soon hear about a very successful private investor taking a space trip with Richard Branson.

There's one more web site that needs to be mentioned: hound.com. This is supposed to be a "free job search engine". Obviously, you need to sign up (give your email address and other information) to use this "free job search engine". It's a little early to predict where Harrison is heading with this but if history were to repeat itself, an innocent consumer should be BEWARE of this.

Take A Second Look... It truly helped me

AUTHOR: Edward - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 28, 2008

I graduated from law school a while ago and I have been trying to find work in the city I grew up in for the past couple of months after I quit my last job (due to unhappiness). Though I would like to stay here and find work in my hometown, I am willing to relocate to a few cities. However, the job market in general in the U.S. is not cooperating as I have not found many promising opportunities in the past months of my search. Though I am struggling, LawCrossing has proven to be the service that has come through for me despite all these above negative comments. The service posts a huge amount of job listings available in various cities, which all look like decent opportunities that someone can take advantage of.

Even though I am very happy with the service now that I have signed up, as I have two interviews next week thanks to this site, I was quite skeptical of paying the monthly payment (similar to most people on this page), so I performed my own research. I took a look at the website, and viewed the testimonials here, http://www.lawcrossing.com/lctestimonials.php and they helped quite a bit. I suggest taking a look at them as well. The testimonials provided me with an idea of what LawCrossing was all about, but I still needed to do more research. I also stumbled upon this website where it indicated that LawCrossing is in the top 75 for the fastest growing company in 2007.

This website was what I found, and I feel that it summed up some of LawCrossing's accolades as a service providing legal jobs to those who need it: http://www.inc.com/inc5000/2007/company-profile.html?id=200700720 . Honestly, it has a pretty solid background if you also check out the extended profile on that site. For all these people to be badmouthing this wonderful service, there sure are a lot of good things that can be observed about this company. Take a look at the website and use that as a springboard for your other research, this really is a great and helpful service.

There are a lot of negative things that people have said about this service, but I have found nothing short of impressive results. LawCrossing has an undeniably large amount of job postings from a tremendous amount of employers. The free services do not compare to the power of this service, as the site is consistently updated to include the latest listings. I highly recommend this service, I have seen great results.

Look at their thousands of customer testimonials. The shear number of jobs available is staggering. I respectfully disagree with the poster.

Nothing other than a disgruntled employee

AUTHOR: Nowayout - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 27, 2008

I have heard nothing other than good things about LawCrossing.com and other companies associated with it. There are thousands of job listings available and this site has helped place many people in jobs they would otherwise not know about or not have the ability to be in contact with. From people I have spoken to who have used this site, they say that without its access they would otherwise not have a job or not have a job that they were content with.

This article sounds like the rantings of a disgruntled ex-employee, only out to slander the name of a former employer, not someone looking to help anyone. Any sites out there looking to say negative things about this company are only out to get a leg up on the competition not care about any of its customers. Other companie are trying to steal customers from each other, not be the empathetic big brother. So before you take the word of one ex-employee or competing companies, take a look at the site for yourself and see the testimonials from all the people whom these companies have helped.

My experience of BCG Attorney Search

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 23, 2008

I worked for BCG Attorney Search and Legal Authority for six months in 2005. I was hired as a customer service manager and worked with the attorneys that the recruiters had placed. I called attorneys to ensure that their experience with BCG and Legal Authority was a positive one.

On day one I was given a list of literally thousands of attorneys that had been placed by BCG and was told to call them and ask a series of questions about their experience. Most had good things to say about the recruiter, though a few did not. I gave these reports to the manager I worked with and to the recruiters. I did the same for Legal Authority.

There was a large head office in California with lots of staff. The office had a good buzz. The pace was fast and there was a lot of pressure to get work done.

I was laid off in September/October 2005. My manager was very apologetic. I called him for a reference in 2006 (and to ask about my W2). He worked closely with Harrison Barnes, I did not and I never spoke to him but I heard he was tough manager.

My experience

POSTED: Sunday, June 22, 2008

I have to say I disagree with the above report. I have used one of the companies and am very impressed with it. I was able to find the job that I have and love now, and don't think I could have done that without using these services.

Not at true allegations

AUTHOR: Tia - (India)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 18, 2008

It sounds totally opposite to the experience I've head with organizations of Harrison Barnes. I was very happy with the job site hosted by him. Employment crossing gives professionals various job opportunities in their respective fields. They charge for posting resume online but thats just because they want employees who are serious about making a career in different prospects available. I too posted my resume and the result was just pleasing. I am particularly a sales professional and since I have registered on their site, they send me many job availabilities in sales field even though I have a job which I got through Employment crossing. The pay scale is also absolutely fine. All I can say is that the companies owned by Harrison Barnes are giving good results to both the market and its employers. thanks to Harrison Barnes for he himself being professional and generous.

The Company Offers a Valuable Foot in the Door.

AUTHOR: Maddog - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 16, 2008

Dear Albert,
It may sound trite, but it is very natural to want to be irate about people who seemed to have become wildly successful, not from nose-to-the-grindstone dedication, but from luck and a good idea.

I have known several people who have found work through using the services of Law Crossings. You may feel that attorneys are rich and overpaid. Some are. However, there are many law students who graduate and find it hard to break into solid work. Or more so, they have trouble finding work that doesn't involve taking the payscale of a non profit organization, which does not pay their student loan, much less groceries. They may not have a someone at a firm who can get their foot in the door for an interview. Not everyone has a second cousin or a college professor who knows someone hiring.

In fact, a friend of mine, who knew no one in a new city is very thankful for the service. They were connected with an excellent job. They would have never found it otherwise.

I Am Beyond Disbelief

AUTHOR: Mrb - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 16, 2008

I have nothing negative to say about this company. If I had the time to write about my whole experience with this company, it would turn into a novel.

So I leave you with this: I have had numerous experiences with the owner of this company and I know for a FACT that he terminates people for dishonesty and the person writing these negative comments (and outright lies) was terminated because they were dishonest. This person is just your typical "disgruntled employee" who is bashing the company because they want their job back.

The facts are not straight.

AUTHOR: Marcopolo - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 16, 2008

I am a former employee of BCG and not of BCG attorney search. Well, How can that be? Simple: They are two totally different companies! While I worked at BCG, I knew many people in the industry (law industry). Harrison Barnes is one of the many people I knew. The guy is tough, but not a liar. He is an achiever and anyone who tells you other wise is probably not an achiever. Harris is a solid guy. He works hard and does a lot for the community. Me, Harris, and two other guys once played golf in South Carolina. We ended up catching the people in front of us. Their was a hot girl in the group. I mentioned this to Harris and he didn't even turn to look at her. He simply said, "take it easy, big guy. We're married men". And he left it at that. Harrison Barnes is hardly a dishonest business man.

This is true

AUTHOR: Allison Less - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 16, 2008

What this guy saying appears to be true.

On the website www.mturk.com the company he's complaining about is offering 5 dollars to people who have no experience with his company to lie and say they've had good experience. The full request reads :
